Regarding catchweight and the belt: how about this - if Cotto/Canelo winner will not fight him at MW limit of 160, then he will be stripped and the belt goes to Golovkin. AFTER THAT, if said winner is interested and proposing a catchweight to GGG for a NON-TITLE fight, then it will be a matter of negotiations. If they propose enough money, I guess catchweight is possible. But GGG SHOULD NOT FIGHT FOR MW TITLE at the catchweight.
how do you figure i'm a "GGG hater"?

so now oscar/hopkins was a fix, never heard of that, can you explain.

    i've been repeating myself.

triple g said he can make 154 easy, so how is 155 a "disadvantage" ?

canelo said years ago he has no plans to go to 160, this isn't breaking news.

canelo wants cotto for the payday and to put a HOF scalp on his resume. not no belt.

but let's just sit back and wait. triple g says no now, but money talks.

my prediction is they will settle at 157. does triple g walk away from that payday and a chance to increase his popularity with a big name opponent? i doubt it

canelo/cotto hasn't even happened. let's just watch what happens. canelo would be a fool to be thinking about triple g at this moment.

Actually does this come as any really surprise? Canelo won't come within a 100 yards of GGG upon winning a portion of the Middleweight title. He is going to relinquish it and move back down to Junior Middleweight. His Team doesn't want it with Golovkin. Therefore, this catchweight proposition is just another convenience excuse to not to fight him.

This is a mandatory unified championship bout; Unlike the voluntary Cotto-Canelo title defense fight. Therefore Golovkin isn't under any legal obligation to weigh a single pound under the 160lb limit.

This is one of the dumbest comments ever! 155 IS middleweight any weight below 160 IS middleweight are you nill?
Sugar Ray beat LaMotta for the Middleweight Title weighing 150lbs
Canelo is easily in great shape at 158+ hell he fights after rehydration at over 170lbs.
Back then, the weigh-in was in the day of the fight...
In 1950 and 1951, SRR fought no less than 30 times(!) at Jr MW and MW and he weighted between 153 and 160 1/2... In the LaMotta fight he was 155 1/2 vs 160...
... But isn't it too much to compare TBE to fighters nowadays, who do not fight at their natural weight?

The good part for GGG is he walks away one step away from unifying MW division, and Lineal.

And litterally didn't have to break a sweat. Fear is a powerful thing.

The fight can't be at 154, it wouldn't be sanctioned.
i'm not entirely sure what you tried to convey there, ******.

He will make 0, and still not have a name on his resume.
Of course that he will look like a 'paper champ'... 'undisputed', though...

... but, eventually, Canelo would still have to call him out for a real fight at 160... with all the belts on the table... It's true that GGG would make less money, but all the others (South or North) would have to fight him on his own terms for the undisputed championship at 160...
