Golovkin's trainer had no problem telling the boxing world that Kovalev sparred and went down from a body shot against Golovkin! I believe Golovkin would force the lighter weight (168) though the way that Ward's team did when he fought Chad Dawson if Ward is fighting at 175 in the future.

Neither was Chavez, and Golovkin was prepared to fight him.

I think you have missed the point about catchweights.

What the fcuk do catchweights have to do with belts and mandatories ?

The purpose of a catchweight is to enable a fair fight.

Cotto weighs 153, so your " ignorant " comment may have been misplaced.
You choose to ignore this because it suits your agenda - to slam GGG. But there are critical differences in these situations:
        1) You ignore the difference in timing of an offer to Froch/Chavez at 168 and Ward - 164 (the latter not really being an offer but a conversation with Dan Rafael). The first happened when GGG had no fights, the second - when unification with Lemieux became a possibility.
        2) You ignore the difference in what's at stake in Cotto/Canelo vs GGG and GGG vs Ward possible fights. The first one has the title and mandatory situation, while the second one - nothing at all, just the bragging rights for PHP ranking (which is almost always a matter of debate).
        3) The purpose of a catchweight is to ensure the fair fight BETWEEN THE FIGHTERS IN DIFFERENT DIVISIONS. Once Cotto claims his right to MW belt, all the talks about him being 153 are not applicable here.

This to me shows your bias - and I don't see the reason to discuss it further.

BUT the difference is that GGG is the mando for THE WBC LINEAL RING MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP so GGG can enforce that, + Canelo already fought above JMW and inside MW(154.1-160) 4 times and GGG never fought above MW.
I don't know what Golovkin can enforce aside from taking a trinket away. If Canelo wins impressively, he's gonna blow up. And a physical belt won't be enough of a reason to make him take a fight he doesn't want. More important, GGG is going to have to make some sacrifices. Even if his PPV does above 200K, he is by far the B-side. If he was willing to go to 168 for Chavez Jr. then he knows he has to drop a few pounds to meet the Cotto-Canelo winner.

              Fair enough.
I think Ward would be fighting these tune ups right now at 168 if he could make the weight.

What are you talking about, Small Poxx? Canelo is fighting for the WBC middleweight title. Do you understand what that means? It means that Canelo has already moved up. He already is a middleweight, given the fact he's spent his last three fights there.

What is at stake for Golovkin vs Ward is being the best and fighting the best. Golovkin says it best "I am fighter/boxer not businessman!" He wants to be the best. He also has a team of businessmen that are there to protect him from himself a help him (and themselves) to the riches of longevity in the sport of boxing for a popular fighter.

Canelo might snap if he rolls into the weigh in all drained and looking like a zombie and has to answer questions about fighting GGG lol
That's why they'll have to do it. Canelo and GBP I mean, not Cotto. GGG is too big to be ignored now and it'll get embarrassing fast.
