As a Cotto fan, the thing the scares me most about Canelo is his upper-cut. Cotto has always been vulnerable to that shot and Canelo knows how to throw it. I could see Cotto jabbing the **** out of Canelo in the early rounds . . . gaining confidence, starting to open up with combinations, and then getting tagged with a monster counter upper-cut that changes the whole fight.
Canelo then will need the "yesos" that margarito use , the paris plaster if he wants to win .

Cotto looked fit already when he entered training camp. And I suspect Cotto's power will bother Canelo more than we think. It'll make him hesitant to come inside. Canelo might have a hand speed advantage, but Cotto's better timing and accuracy offset that, plus his experience.

I like Cotto via competitive but clearly deserved UD.
I have Canelo winning the fight, but you have valid point and perhaps Cotto can win by UD.

As much as I hate to admit, Margacheto had a depleted uranium chin and a legendary stamina. Canelo does not have them. Cotto will chin check him that's for sure.

I got Cotto stopping Canelo under 10 rds, come get some!
Canelo as of now has a solid chin, if there is stoppage it will be due to Cotto getting KO. You have no history that tells you that Canelo will get stopped.

Should be a good fight for as long as it lasts. I think Cotto can outbox the **** out of Canelo. I hope both fighters get dropped and get back up and fight to 12 rounds and then a rematch with a KO.

Canelo has not fought anyone with Cotto's combination of skill, power and killer instinct. The history of Canelo's chin tells us nothing about how he will take Cotto's power.

If Canelo can take Cotto's punches then he has a decent shot at grinding Miguel down mid to late rounds. That being said, Cotto hurting Canelo early in the fight is very possible and could be what control's the fight. People forget that Miguel is a damn good puncher, he didn't just stumble upon 33 KO's.

I agree. I see a late TKO or ref stoppage.
If it does go to a decision I don't who has the upper hand when it comes to boxing politics. HBO just signed Canelo to lucrative deal to be the face of their boxing efforts and is still young and has many more years of making money for Vegas and the WBC while Cotto only has a few fights left at most. But Canelo is also young enough and popular enough were a loss wouldn't kill his career.

As I have said before, people tend to forget that Margaritto walked through hell fire and got his ash kicked for 7 straight rounds. I don't think Canelo has the chin to take that much punishment over the majority of the fight, and not enough stamina to ware down Cotto in the second half of the fight. Canelo will have to manage the ring and distance more then apply pressure, which means he will need to cut the ring off and force Cotto to engage and trade shots, where Canelo can then counter. If he follows Cotto which is what Margaritto did, he will lose this fight convincingly, because Canelo has to set to land his punches, doubly so for his power, and he will find it hard to catch up to Cotto, and land solid punches while moving forward, especially if Cotto is landing his jab. Canelo also has to find chances to lean on Cotto when ever they are close, it will help to tire Cotto and put pressure on his legs, which will later slow his movement.
cotto has worse stamina unless freddy juicing him and where all of a sudden did cotto become cassius clay this boxing genius?? I do not understand this transformation. cotto will get walked down bludgeoned into a gargoyle and stopped

There you have it there... A draw.. just like Canelita got one judge to give him a draw vs Maweather, but cotto who made a much better fight vs Floyd, got blown out by the judges.. if I was Ginger? I'd want this to go to the judges..

Cotto's stamina was world class before the Margaritto fight, he constantly out performed fighters in the second half of fights. And even if Cotto gased, it wouldnt be until the 10th or 11th round where as Canelo is gased by the 5th or 6th and was breathing heavy by the 3rd round of his last fight.

No one said Cotto was Ali, the fact is that Margaritto is the only boxer to pressure Cotto successfully, but in the process he was out boxed and took a lot of shots over 7 rounds. Canelo doesnt have the chin or stamina to sustain that type of damage and come on in the second half of the fight.

The point still stands, a pressure fight is the wrong fight for Canelo to fight, especially when you factor in that it's not his style. And pressure fighters who have to set before they punch have fast feet so they can quickly get into position once they're in punching range. Canelo doesn't have fast feet, so he would have to punch while moving which will lower his accuracy, power, and defense.
