Canelo must press like Margo did in his first fight with Cotto.

Cotto was wandering in a terrible wilderness and went thru defeats he should never tasted but Roach took him and led him to the promise land. If Jr wasn't doing drugs the Cooto would KO Jr today. Cotto can KO about anyone today!!

As many people have already said, Canelo is a completely different fighter from Margarito. Anyone who attempts to impose a Margarito-type, volume-punching gameplan against Cotto better have an iron chin. Canelo just doesn't fight like that, though (and I doubt he has a Margarito-type chin).

As a Cotto fan, the thing the scares me most about Canelo is his upper-cut. Cotto has always been vulnerable to that shot and Canelo knows how to throw it. I could see Cotto jabbing the **** out of Canelo in the early rounds . . . gaining confidence, starting to open up with combinations, and then getting tagged with a monster counter upper-cut that changes the whole fight.

Physically alvarez is bigger & he needs 2 do it early b4 Cotto gets on aroll...I doubt he doe it...

Have a feeling Cotto is going to win this fight. His preparation will offset Canelo's youth, especially since Canelo tends to blow up in weight in between fights. Cotto looked fit already when he entered training camp. And I suspect Cotto's power will bother Canelo more than we think. It'll make him hesitant to come inside. Canelo might have a hand speed advantage, but Cotto's better timing and accuracy offset that, plus his experience.

I like Cotto via competitive but clearly deserved UD.

As much as I hate to admit, Margacheto had a depleted uranium chin and a legendary stamina. Canelo does not have them. Cotto will chin check him that's for sure.

Another thing to consider is, no hate on Canelo, I'm a fan, but due to politics in the sport it'll be really hard for Cotto to win a decision against Canelo, he aint getting any close rounds. Still remember the 114-114 vs Floyd and the 117-111 vs Lara. So, for Cotto to win a decision in Vegas against Canelo, a Mexican, young, huge following, big attraction, fan friendly style and on HBO roster, he'll pretty much need to beat the pulp out of him. I think this is why the bets are 3-1!!!

If Canelo can learn to cut of the ring better than he has done in the past, then Cotto will be finished. If not, then Cotto will win. If Cotto chooses to stay in the pocket with Canelo, he will lose. I don't think he will do this, therefore that is why it is important for Canelo to cut off the ring effectively.

I think you hit it right in the head, Canelo does not have Margarito's Stamina nor his chin in addition Margarito is a much bigger guy than even Canelo. Having said that this could be a back and forth battle like the Cotto vs Judah fight. Many people here are taking issue with the 155 weight but that is bull, Canelo's last fight was a Jr Middleweight so what is the issue?
One more thing, is you want to see possible style dynamics between Canelo and Cotto you might want to carefully look at the Canelo Against Miguel Angel Cotto fight (Cotto's Older Slower and not as good of a boxer brother). If Cotto lands a left hook on Canelo they way his older bro did we can see a very short night.

I do suspect that the fight will probably play out like Cotto Mosley the only difference that Mosley really never took his foot off the gas and is a much better and faster fighter then Canelo (at the time of that fight).

Great fight anyway you look at it. I am looking for Cotto to win in either by tko in the 8th, 9th or by decision Unless the night of the fight is the night the young Lion (Canelo) exposes an Older Champion (Cotto) in a similar fashion to the way Cotto exposed the battle worn Martinez.

Don't think Canelo has the stamina to consistently press the action. It's obvious they believe the Margaritto approach is the way to defeat Cotto. As I have said before, people tend to forget that Margaritto walked through hell fire and got his ash kicked for 7 straight rounds. I don't think Canelo has the chin to take that much punishment over the majority of the fight, and not enough stamina to ware down Cotto in the second half of the fight. Canelo will have to manage the ring and distance more then apply pressure, which means he will need to cut the ring off and force Cotto to engage and trade shots, where Canelo can then counter. If he follows Cotto which is what Margaritto did, he will lose this fight convincingly, because Canelo has to set to land his punches, doubly so for his power, and he will find it hard to catch up to Cotto, and land solid punches while moving forward, especially if Cotto is landing his jab. Canelo also has to find chances to lean on Cotto when ever they are close, it will help to tire Cotto and put pressure on his legs, which will later slow his movement.

Canelo and Margarito are not even remotely the same style, nor a good comparison.

It's like you didn't read the article, or my entire quote. It's not my idea for Canelo to pressure Cotto, it's they're idea. The only person to successfully pressure Cotto was Margaritto in the first fight, and he got hit with alot of punches over 7 rounds to do it. Canelo is not a pressure fighter, and he will take a lot of damage if he tried to pressure Cotto. The comparison stands.
