Chocolatito don't need him, he already got him on his record, chocolatito can move on to 115 champs like the Japanese monster and retire as a ATG first ballot HOF he is
he isn't gonna get a million to fight those dudes either.
so why not fight the one guy who people actually wanna see you fight again?
plus roman has said that Estrada is the toughest fight of his career.
if roman feels like he doesn't need Estrada, that's all he has to say. that's understandable.
but when you say you will only fight him for 7 figures when you made 5 figures the first time, that says you don't wanna fight him again
this needs to headline its own card, perhaps after one more gonzalez co-main with golovkin and finally introducing el gallo to the american fans. give them $1.5m or so to share (fairly normal for a hbo headliner) and gonzalez takes the lion's share
He really hasn't earned it from a business standpoint, and he does not have the powerful backing of a top promoter/manager to get him those paydays he wants. A fighter's worth is what he can draw or has drawn in the past. Being good does not get you big paydays. Being demanded on tv is what makes netoworks throw money at you. If Gonzalez wants "1 or 2 million" for Estrada, then leave his current promoter and manager and join Al Haymon. Even then, it would still be a tough task for Haymon who is known to overpay fighters like Berto back in the day when he was undefeated.
I think anyone here who is over a certain age would agree it's not what you know, it's who you know.
I think in time, the rematch could be a PPV co-main at least. As for the $$$, it's clear from an entertainment standpoint that Gallo/Chocolatito 2 would give the fans their money's worth. HBO just needs to build both of them up so they can justify paying top-dollar for the match-up.
If they could get some Estrada fights on HBO to show what a great matchup this is they could get some very good money for this fight imo.
As it is RG is the only one getting any mainstream hype so i struggle to see him getting the money he wants.
Estrada is a quality mexican fighter with a very exciting style, he could get hype behind him too.
Estrada is the in fighter in Mexico, that immediatly translates to a mexican american fanbase....hell if they did separate main events in America on HBO, I guarantee Estrada gets better gate/ratings...and then he will get leverage to ask for a bigger purse than Gonzalez.....when Gonzalez is alrady asking for 2 million.....Gonzalez is making this fight hard to negotiate.....I had him winning the first, but he has been very hesitant to fight Estrada again...clear ducking tendencies IMO.
Gonzalez sees the big paydays at PBC, so he is trying to use whatever leverage he has to get that from HBO. I'm cool when any fighters tries to get what they think they are worth.
That said, I do not think gonzalez/Estrada 2 is a million dollar fight nor do I see Gonzalez as a million dollar fighter right now. These both could change.
