Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin To Hit New Markets in 2016?

In the wake of Gennady Golovkin's latest middleweight destruction, an eight round stoppage of David Lemieux in front of a capacity crowd of over 20,500 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, the question is what new frontiers will K2 Promotions and 'GGG' try and conquer moving forward?

U would think GGG, fought Mayweather on saturday, knoked him out in the first 5 seconds of round one, with everything his corner and him have been saying, and how he will be reaching this great stardom thanks to beating Lemuix!!
He's good, dont get me wrong, but tone it down a couple notches, hes still to fight anyone with aname, not knocking Lem, btw!

Canelo vs GGG in Texas would be insane. 50,000+ people easy.......

they could do Gonzalez - Estrada 2 in the co-feature....

Canelo and Cotto would be wise to move back down to 154 after their fight in November and vacate all 160 belts. Golovkin should focus on Lee and the Jacobs/Quillin winner.

          It would be epic.

But I actually think everyone could be looking at that fight the wrong way.

According to the information you provided the other day, if the Cotto/Canelo winner is stripped Golovkin will not have to fight the best contender for the WBC strap, he will be elevated.

Well I think that the WBC will strip Cotto, but not Canelo.

The clue is in this very article, combined with the fact that the WBC are inconsistent at best.

This article stated that the winner would " risk " being stripped.

I think that if Cotto beats Canelo, and Golovkin refuses to give him a catchweight, then Cotto will be stripped and Golovkin will be elevated.

But if Canelo wins, I think they will petition the WBC to allow him some voluntary defences..... and that will likely depend on how easy it is for Canelo to make 154, or 155 in his case.

If they are close to moving up anyway, then they would likely decide to make the transition immediately if the option of 2-3 defences was available.

The winner wont do anything silly, regardless if its Cotto or Canelo.

Golovkins best shot at that belt could be Cotto beating Canelo.

Dumb Vegas is where all the money is at. Canelo can sell out in Vegas by himself. 50k people paying 15$ is not the same as mgm sell out not even close.

Cotto should, hes too small for middleweight.

He is obviously a JMW, and he refuses to fight at 160.

With Canelo it depends on how hard it is for him to make 154.

Only him and his team will know.

Not sure what he will do if he beats Cotto.

I would just about bet my life he wont fight Golovkin at 160.

Not without 2-3 voluntary defences to adapt to middleweight.

Canelos handlers have been too smart with Canelos weight so far.

Kind of surprised given GGG has lived in Germany they haven't mentioned that stage, one of those big futbal stadiums.

The WBC would risk a serious lawsuit from K2 if they play any of their usual games here.

I believe they will uphold their deal, but hey when it comes to sanctioning bodies (except the IBF), they typically do whatever they feel like doing (which is usually whatever makes them the most money)......

When tickets only cost $16 each, selling 20,000 of them if not that impressive.
