This is from the other thread.....
So, the WBC do not rank Wladimir Klitschko in their top 10 at heavyweight, because it is against their policy to rank the WBA champion.....
..... and yet, not only have they decided to rank the WBA middleweight champion in their top 10, they have decided to install him as the mandatory?
I know how Cotto will feel about that.....
But I'm just wondering how Wlad Klitschko feels about it ?
It appears that the WBC have decided it is in their best political interests to award Golovkin the WBC middleweight strap as soon as-is humanly possible.
They could probably strip Cotto coz of those fkn awful crocs I reckon.
Why they got no love for big Wladdie ?
They have had decades to get this right, and it aint rocket science.
Not sure whats up.Comment

I do moan about the WBC, and I will continue to do so.
This is from the other thread.....
I have no idea why the WBC have decided to make that particular ruling today, but I am nowhere near convinced that the decision was made in the best interests of boxing.
They have had decades to get this right, and it aint rocket science.
Not sure whats up.
Beside I think, well I know Wilder would be more than up for a Wladimir fight If Wlad doesn't lose to Dyson Fury.
Its a start though If they do force WBC champions to fight the right guy and at the moment Povetkin is the right guy who deserves it and... hasn't the WBC forced that one on Wilder?Comment

They never began negotiations, there was never an "in negotiations process" they delayed and fought their own fights each.
Duva also sued Haymon at one point and that didn't help negotiations start up either.
Let's remember how we're at this point:
1. Kovalev-Stevenson deal was being made for HBO. Sergey Kovalev since the beginning has an EXCLUSIVE contract with HBO dictating he only fights on HBO. Stevenson never had/has such a contract with HBO or Showtime in his career.
2. Stevenson leaves Yvon Michael and GYM Promotions for Al Haymon's team.
3. Al Haymon and Co. abandon HBO and board Showtime.
4. Al Haymon and Stevenson ignore attempts at negotiating, fight their own fights, attempt to secure a Hopkins fight and fail miserably and now we're still waiting for a fight that could of already happened.Comment

If you were managing Kovalev you wouldn't want one side to deal with all the promotion. You manage the #1 guy with 3 belts and you get bought out of promotion? Bull****.
They should be able to negotiate instead of Haymon forcing it into a purse bid. Haymon refuses to negotiate with Duva's team and make it seem like Kova and Duva are running when they simply want a fair negotiations instead of a purse bid.
They will all get paid good regardless of what happens, it just should be done at the table not with who has the biggest check to buy the promotion rights.
"The WBC will fully support and invite the promoters and managers of both fighters to sit down and make this fight happen."
They could agree that the fight is aired by both Showtime and HBO --as simple as that. It doesn't have to be a PPV fight -- just regular Showtime and HBO...
As we all know, Haymon embraces the "free TV" business model...
But Yvon Michel has some issues with Haymon with this respect...
Stevenson’s promoter, Yvon Michel, owns the Canadian broadcast rights to his fights, and says there’s still a robust pay-per-view market in Canada, especially in Quebec. And when Stevenson’s last fight aired on free TV as part of a two-fight PBC broadcast, Michel says boxing fans called to complain, saying they’d rather pay to see a whole card than watch two fights for free.
Therefore: Michel, in his own right, is likely to press to airing Adonis on PPV TV in Quebec, Canada...
On another hand, let's remember that the Kovalev-Mohammedi fight was not broadcast on "regular" HBO Canada, because Pascal was on the undercard and that was enough to make this fight a PPV there in Canada.
In short: because of "issues" in Canada, the "Kovalev-Stevenson situation" is likely not to fall into the simple "purse bid" category, as Haymon would have wanted...
A negotiated co-promotional solution would better solve the "situation".Comment

The article reads that WBC invites to NEGOTIATIONS...

Kovalev does have an exclusive contract to fight on HBO though where Stevenson is not contractually obliged to Showtime.Comment
