some of you guys really don't know much about boxing. Its not often people fight a high profile fight after a long lay off and when they have they usually lose because they haven't got their footing back

          Have some common sense
He has had 2 fights since the surgery. PAY ATTENTION. And it hasn't been a long layoff, he fought in JUNE. This will be the third tune up. Show me anytime a champion has taken 3 tuneups? I'll wait.

He paid his dues, we know he is world class but he is with a new company and has to make some new momentum to get big fights......duh

I bet its a sigh of relieve for GGG fanatics that he may be removing up to 168.....pheeeeew
Man and then you call GGG's fans to be on the defensive.

if this is the fight that ward choose, then we need to call it as it is, some real SHI.T!

I did the same with the 164 CW offer from GGG.

            And I'm a GGG supporter.

thats right, better not do that.

and what if Ward fight Kovalev, thats a huge success for both fighters, but what has to do GGG in there? nothing right?

            Ahh right he ducked doe...pfff..

I've always wanted to see that fight but if it don't happens, I can move on.

I hope GGG unifies ASAP and then move up to SW. Then we could see a good fight there with Ward being the bigger man.

It's a step down from Paul Smith, in the time Ward's team as had, you'd hope they could of found a better opponent. Tune-up fight or not.
Now, let's put it like this: who (of some relevance) would have taken a fight with Ward on a month short notice? Nobody, of course...
... It seems that Ward had to work hard in order to get that HBO deal, in case he actually did get a deal...

... as about Ward fighting Kovalev next fall: you never know... Maybe Kovalev gets somehow 'destroyed' until then... Maybe Ward decides to stay at 168 or maybe he suffers some sort of an injury or some promotional issues may occur... a.s.o.

Ward should be fighting a top 25 LHW for this fight. He's more than capable and has more to gain by fighting a better quality opponent.
I was referring to the 3-4 tuneups he allegedly has wanted and yes. This fight is lame. It's a step Down from Paul Smith who was the no. 4 SMW in England fighting at cruiserweight.

This is a disgrace to boxing. I never liked Ward's personality or his boxing style, but I respected him as a boxer. Not after a stunt like this.

                  It's gotta be a joke.

                    Is this actually serious?

Is this another 200k average rating on BET?

Ward's team decided he needed more knockouts to make him marketable.
