I think Clottey gave Cotto a hiding in that fight, extremely generous decision he got off from the judges.

Pacquiao is a good fight but he lost it
Mayweather another good one but he lost it

Bare in mind he did get took to school by Austin Trout just imagine what Erislandy Lara would have done to him?
I think and I just can't help it think it that his best wins are overrated a good bit.
No I don't particularly. At all actually. Except for the ones that are in way different weightclasses as in Kirkland at 154 vs Judah at 140.

But again, Cotto fought these guys win or lose, and Canelo only has a few decent fighters on his resume, so how can anyone say Cotto is the one being selective?

A large factor in this could be Cotto is older and still at it whereas Canelo is still relatively very young in boxing years and he's already fought quite a good few names and common opponents as Cotto.
When its all said and done when both careers are over I'm 100% certain Canelo will have fought a lot better and likely have more better wins included but neither man is adding GGG to their win list.

Of course, but it's like people forget nowadays how much of a beast Cotto once was and how avoided he was, especially at 140 / early days at 147.

Cotto has a hall of fame resume, and will go into the hall of fame when he retires. He's proved himself over more than a decade.

Canelo might go down as a greater fighter with a better resume, but he isn't yet and nowhere near.

A win over Cotto would be a good start. Agree none of them beat GGG, but Canelo has the better chance.

For me these days the title is accurate (not so much a few years ago), but I think that's only because at this stage cotto is looking to close out his career soon enough now and his next loss will probably be the end of the road, at least for big PPV pay days. Canelo is young and can take another loss and build back up and as it stands is certainly willing to take the real tough challenges with no great upside -- like Lara.

I think of the two Canelo would be the more likely to take a GGG fight.

Resume is more about losing to good fighters, losing to good opponents doesn't make your resume good it just exposes you as not being the best of our time.
Cotto has beaten plenty of better fighters than Trout.

His best weights were 140/147..... 154/160 meh.

Yep, you have to win those fights, or they appear in the other column.
