The fight was awkward as hell from the start. I thought Mansour won though. I picked Mansour, as Washington is just a converted football player. But Mansour couldn't get the correct angles. He basically ran out of time. He was going big for the knockout up until the 9th, when he ran out of gas. Washington was much more gassed though and was simply running away with his hands down. Don't expect anything from Washington. Mansour is still a gatekeeper.

This was an entertaining fight.
I have a soft spot for Mansour. I have no idea why.
Washington got a gift.
Mansour won the fight 6-4
Mansour pushed the action and wanted to be entertaining. He deserved it. He had the heart of the lion.
I felt compelled to post because there there's only 2 pages of replies and this man gave such an effort.
He never stopped trying.Comment

Mansour's one of my favourite heavyweights. I love his honestly and heart. He never stops trying, never stops going for the knockout.
I haven't seen this fight yet, but I hope there wasn't a robbery. Still, a draw is less painful than a loss. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to showcase his stuff against a more worthy foe.
If Scott beats Thompson a showdown between these two would be epic.Comment

Mansour was pressing the action throughout, but he gave away a lot of the early rounds.
He eventually figured Washington out, and in particular punished ham bad to the body.
Washington gassed, and basically did nothing the second half.
A draw wasn't necessarily a bad result, it was an awkward fight. I did think Mansour edged it. I gave Mansour the first round, I didn't really score round by round, but Washington won most of the early rounds. Mansour basically won everything in the latter half. The 10th was the only one that was close, because Mansour exerted himself a lot in the prior rounds, going for the knockout it seemed, and Washington landed one solid right.
Some people seemed to have it Washington 1-5, Mansour 6-10. I didn't quite have it that way, I gave Mansour round 1, and thought he edged round 3. Mansour did win 6-9 clearly, and I thought he also won 10 pretty handily, but he wasn't able to land enough punches and so left the door open. So, a draw was kind of acceptable.
As I said, Mansour seemed to have trouble with the height, reach, and style in the early going, though seemed to figure Washington out.
In a rematch, I think Mansour would work the body a lot more in the early going, and probably take Washington out.Comment

It's still a nice back story.
The guy is a gate keeper, but he will beat a lot of guys.
He'll never be a true contender, but he's far better than the average gatekeeper.
Who's to say he would've ever been more than he is now, in any case.
He wasn't actually a heavyweight. He had a few fights at a lower division, went away for 8.5 years, trained his ass off in prison, got out, and started fighting again.
Nothing wrong with that.
Edit: Okay, my mistake, boxrec says he was a heavyweight. I thought I'd remembered he was a 175 pounder or something.
Still, he had 9 fights against very week opponents, between 1997 and 2001, before going away.
We can't say he would've ever been anything more than he is today.
He's now headlining cards.
He hasn't done too badly for himself, all things considered.Last edited by Drunken Cat; 10-14-2015, 11:20 AM.Comment

I hated to do it, but I scored rounds 9-10 for Washington, since although Washington was entirely in retreat, he did land a few punches, and Mansour didn't. Final score: 6-4 Washington.
But Mansour is the vastly more entertaining fighter.Comment

I haven't watched it yet but saw a few highlights. Mansour is getting up in age so you would think with all of Washington's advantages he would be the guy to pick. I will have to watch it before I comment more...Comment
