Will GGG Make You Fall in Love With Boxing Again ?

GGG brings new fans to the sport. I know a couple people that will be ordering the ppv that I put on to GGG. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If I'm introducing a new fan to boxing I will admit a GGG fight would surly provide the entertainment yo get them hooked .

Oh yeah. A casual can take a look at any of his fights and be sold instantly. He gets knockouts and fights with aggression without sticking his face out to get hit.

I've been loved boxing since the Tyson/DLH era in the 90s when I was a child. I'm not a fickle fan who depends on one fighter from one weight class to stick to watching boxing, that has 17 weight classes and thousands of boxers.

I'd definitely go for Cotto vs Cancelo instead, but that's just me. Much more competetive fight. Higher chance of ending in decision? Yes, but that's good, you expect it to be competetive but then a TKO happens, those are the best. We all expect for GGG to steamroll Lemiuex with ease. Canelo/Cotto is 50-50 or so, definitely the fight to recommend to family and friends to tune in.

Problem is, there's no future for him. Zero compelling matches at 160 (I don't see Cotto or Canelo fighting him at 160), he's not willing to go down and he'll only go up to 168 for easy fights. In his mid-30's there's no waiting for new competition to come down the pipe. What does that leave him with? Journeymen @ 160. Some people get off on that but I really hoped to see him face top guys some day. Maybe we'll get lucky and Canelo will fight him. That's just one match to look forward to though.

Exactly. I've introduced a ton of casuals to boxing and they do not like mismatches. It comes across as bullying and sad. They'd rather see something go back and forth, something more sporting.

He is a very good fighter but it is hard to gage him given the division. Part of his success in my opinion comes from the division being physically small. This allows him to impose his punching power. I don't think he has the same success against the early to mid 2000 division with far larger men like Hopkins, Taylor and Pavlik.
