Isn't there a regular or interim champ? Why haven't the alphabet group pushed for that fight?

Regardless if Rigo gots this trinket or not he's The Champion at his weight.
The alphabet groups couldn't manage a piss up in brewery much less effectively run the careers of all their champions.

The alphabet groups are powerless to make fighters step up and fight as we have recently seen with trying to find someone to face Beterbiev for the eliminatory fight.

It must be that - such a shame - I can't understand why boxing journalists don't investigate what exactly his contract is. That said, he could break it if someone (like Haymon) would buy him out of it. This must be so frustrating for him. His ex-manager should have steered him away from Caribe towards a promoter with deeper pockets that could make the fights attractive for his potential opponents.

Outside of the Fighter LLCs, Haymon seems to make sure that every promoter he does business with actually does the work.

As long as Rigo has that forever deal with Caribe, Haymon's not touching him with a ten-foot pole.
Surely Rigo can just sign with another promoter. He would get sued by Caribe. If the other promoter covers the damages what is the issue? How much could the damages be? It's not as if Rigo is involved in million dollar fights.

Say what you want about the other sanctioning bodies, the WBO has proven itself to be clearly the worst.
Can we just say that at the bottom of the vile cesspit of corruption that constitutes the 'business' side of boxing - there festers the President of the WBO and his stinking cronies.

If the WBO orders guys to fight Rigo and they decline, they lose their ranking and have to fight more fights just to either regain their place or somewhere else. That's the point of the rankings.

And meanwhile with his option to fight guys with a voluntary, we've already criticize fighters like wilder and Cotto for using their voluntaries in geale and molina who proved to be unworthy, so why the hell would we be satisfied if Rigo did the same?

The WBO has a job to do by issuing mandatory challengers just like they've had to for other divisions. you can't have a champion not make a single mandatory defense of his title since getting the belt and hold him accountable when he's been open to his mandatories. They'll strip fighters for unsanctioned fighte but will let others blatantly turn down their mandatories Bc of the money.
If you do that too often then the rankings list will be filled with non deserving fighters who might normally rank between 20 and 40. In that scenario the ranking list becomes irrelevant and ergo the ABC organization becomes irrelevant. Haymon would love to see a scenario like that unfold.
