Caribe Promotions have vowed to fight tooth and nail against the possibility of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) stripping Guillermo Rigondeaux of his super bantamweight world title.

An expected meeting between Francisco "Paco '' Valcarcel, the president of the WBO, and Boris Arencibia, who holds the same position with Caribe, is being worked out but also does not guarantee that Rigondeaux will remain the titleholder.

nothing new, when caribe got the rights for rigo vs avalos, avalos opted for frampton, since then the wbo didnt do anything to produce a top challenger or a mandatory. they let andrade sit on his belt for over a year before they stripped him but want to enforce this 9-month rule, they took trout of their rankings to sanction smith-soro and then smith-thompson when soro dropped out, now they magically put trout back in their rankings who was suppose to get the title shot, but we already know the wbo is looking out for their best interest.

its not hard to "win" the bid when you are the only bidder. It was a wasted effort. Everyone already knew Avalos was fighting Frampton........
