ProbLem is, after Canelo beats Cotto, they plan to run

from GGG. That's not taking risk. That's sacrificing one fighter to protect another.

Only in boxing do the fans and networks turn their backs on a fighter after a few losses. In UFC a fighter can have 6 losses and still sell out an arena. Why? because little stock is put into losses there. Even the best MMA artists can lose on any given night. But they bounce back and get right back into the octagon against tough competition.
This is a solid argument, the problem is the quantity of manufactured records in boxing.

Even most of the future champions in boxing have 2-3 years of nothing, non-competitive fights that are basically setups or fixed fights without a fixed fight payoff for the loser. UFC guys are thrown into the fire vs competitive opposition from fight 1 & thrown into bigger fires if they keep winning til they are the champion or lose.

If you got 6 L's in boxing & you're 28 you probably do suck at the world level is the reality. In the UFC you could be the #1 guy with 6 L's at 28. Boxing would need an huge overhaul for L's not to be seen like they are usually. The thing is you are definitely right there are cats with 6 L's who are f#cking monsters. There an anomaly in boxing is the thing & most people just know cats with 6 L's suck cuz the reality is they almost always do.

Let's face it, the only big truly big name fighter GBP has is Canelo (I don't count Hopkins because he has a ownership stake in GBP) and they have not matched him tough because there are few fighters that currently have a bigger name than his. If they were truly matching him tough there is a slew of JMW's that could give him fits but these guys can't get a sparing session with Canelo let only a fight.
The other fighters they have are only known in certain circles but none are close to transcending all circles or even the sport of boxing.

Since the supposed end of the cold war, you can count on one hand the number of so called big fights GBP has made and ironically of those few even fewer were against TOP TEIR TR opponents.

I understand politic in corporate America. Max has no choice to toe the line on this topic. He has to speak highly of all promotional companies doing business with HBO. To do otherwise could jeopardize his career. I ain't mad at him.
Solid points. I think Oscar's past should account for something here too doe. He's always been a guy who's seen more upside in good fights than creating a product that happens to be a boxer like many bigger promoters tend to try to do. The bottom line with what Kellerman is saying to me is GBP will rise again cuz Oscar understand what boxing fans want more than anyone else in his position, with his power. Plus even if he completes a anti-trifecta & Lemieux & Canelo take L's too, GBP will still rise again cuz Oscar understands what boxing fans want more than anyone else in his position, with his power.
