That's the thing you are missing. Ward's last fight was on BET for christ's sake, despite the fact that Ward has been commenting on HBO fights. Think about that. HBO said no to the guy the employed for commenting because it doesn't make business sense.
The only way the fight happens is if Ward takes a step back and realizes his position in the game. He can't make demands, he has no leverage. GGG's guy is saying they don't need Ward and they are right, they will get just as much mainstream notoriety and press beating a host of other guys.
No avoided killer here folks.
So I have to wonder..... when they passed up Lara for Monroe, stating that Monroe was a bigger draw..... that was a blatant duck as well, right ?

All they need to do is say that Ward is too good, and that Gennady is not ready for SMW.
Ward is the answer to all of Golovkins problems, so they clearly have no faith in him to beat Ward.
Golovkin has an underwhelming resume, and he wants to be a PPV star.
So, beat Ward..... both problems solved.
That would be a breakout win over the only elite fighter who counts, and it would establish Gennady as the best P4P fighter on the planet.
It would be the quickest way for Golovkin to achieve his two goals.
I can see whats up ^^

Don't know why these threads get so long because it's essentially the exact same thing everyone here has already debated many times.
Lemieux unification fight next.
WBC mandatory shot following that.
Once those are taken care of, the Ward fight can happen. Pretty simple. In the meantime, it's certainly in Ward's best interest to keep fighting and stay relevant since it's obvious his name value has dropped some from being so inactive over the years. This fight can potentially be huge but it takes a little more time to get there.
