  • What would you consider to be a successful PPV number for GGG - Lemieux?

POLL IS MULTIPLE CHOICE SO THAT PEOPLE MAY CHOOSE WHAT THEY FEEL IS A FAILURE AND A SUCCESS AS WELL.

What would you consider to be a successful PPV number for GGG - Lemieux?

What would you consider to be successful numbers?

What would you consider to be a bomb?

What would you consider to be VERY successful numbers?

This is not about how many sales you think it will be able to get, I want to know what you think it will take to be considered a successful first foray into the PPV area for a fighter who has no build in fan base in the US to draw from.

It's not easy to build a poll on this but I think this will be OK. Open to suggestions if anyone has them.

        Over 350k would success.

500k would be top 5 draw status.

Over 500k, he will have some serious leverage over basically anyone not named Canelo.

It came up in another thread where Kev stated that the PPV would bomb. This escalated as to what would be considered a success and what would be considered a bomb.

In my eyes, anything that turns a profit is considered to be a success and anything that generates a loss is a failure. To be considered a 'bomb', I believe the loss would have to be considerable, somewhere in the Roc Nation - Andre Ward contract neighbourhood where not only do they have to pay him a huge purse but also have to pay to get him on TV as well as for most of the tickets in the arena. THAT is what I consider to be a BOMB.

But like everything else, opinions differ.

Exceeding 500k would be great numbers.

I think the 350 range is more likely and thats still good for your first PPV

Anything under 300 is a bomb.

This isnt about profit....this is about trying to hype him into being a superstar. That is the only reason to make this fight PPV.

If he can draw a nice number then he can get superstar numbers with bigger fights like a Canelo or Cotto, if not then he will need to be on regular HBO.

If he is to be the next superstar then he needs to do good numbers AND win impressively.

i honestly believe this ppv will cap out at 185-199k thats why i took the bet

now as far as potential??with GGG being a household name to casuals now he should easily do 250k+

                  300-400K and it was great.

                  300-400K is around what pac-morales 1-3 and marg-cotto 1 did.

                    250k is a good start

But let's face it, it's all in marketing and advertisement. I only see commercials for this fight on HBO other paying media en****** like cable, satellite, etc. Because of this, the market is lowered to only a lesser percentage of what the potencial is out there. It's as if the promoters and sponsors sell themselves short. A better marketing scheme would draw more attention and exposure to the sport as a whole, as well as introduce different fighters and weight classes to even the casual boxing fan. My 2cents.
