    Should have added a "dont care". How much money someone makes is meaningless as how many dingle berries they have on their ass hole!

      Remember the break even is 150k at most. 350k is much better than good. Cotto vs Martinez didn't hit that, and Canelo has never done more minus Floyd. These are the 2 biggest draws excluding Floyd/PAC, and both have large ethnic fanbases. Hardly any Ggg fans would put him in the same bracket as those two, at this point.

        This isnt about profit....this is about trying to hype him into being a superstar. That is the only reason to make this fight PPV.

        If he can draw a nice number then he can get superstar numbers with bigger fights like a Canelo or Cotto, if not then he will need to be on regular HBO.

        If he is to be the next superstar then he needs to do good numbers AND win impressively.
        It's both. They'd love to turn him into a superstar, but there's few guys that got there without being American, or without a strong ethnic fanbase. Even PAC had more ethnic support, and an ATG resume and Mexicutioner rep before going beyond 350k.

        For now they'll be happy to cover the costs. HBO never pays more than 3-4m in combined purse. This gives them some flexibility, with guys like Lemieux, Lee who're not giving up their belts for less than 2.5m say

          Really fummy that the same guys who were like " who gives a damn about PPV numbers " are the ones who are making it a big deal now cuz it helps protect their fighter.

            200k-300k would be a success. Anything more than 400k would be a huge success. There are not many fighters you could count on to deliver PPV numbers like that.

              250-300K will be solid.

                As far as turning a profit, there's a good chance they already have gotten close to that, with tickets sold, international tv rights deals, etc.

                But I think the success should be in comparison to ppv numbers for canelo-angulo, canelo-Lara, and cotto-Martinez. If it can outsell those ppv's, which seems possible, that would be a huge deal for a golovkin.

                  HOLD ON, a couple of weeks ago, you guys were saying 500k was a bomb, lol. When pac did 275K you guys said it was a bomb. They are promoting him as a superstar, superstars sell 1mil, oh remeber when floyd did 900k vs guerrero? It was considered a bomb, lol. If he's elite and boxings next superstar? He's gotta put those numbers up, if a "boring boxer" is putting up big #'s surely a guy who has HBO backing and all of the so-called fans of "exciting boxers" should do BIG #'S Since 900K was a bomb and 550K was a bomb for amount of ppv's sold, he has to do 1mil, since he's supposed to be good for boxing and soooo exciting. lol
                  Just going off of what you guys say, lol. Remeber when floyd should move up for better competition to 154lb division, listen to how Ward should move up 1 division and face Kovalev, LOL! but lil g ooohhh noooo, he's p4p and boxings next superstar, he should put up those NUMBERS or he's a bust, remember you criticizing OTHER boxers that put up those same #'s being boring, and he's allegedly exciting and good for boxing, and pay has nothing to do with how many people want to see you perform. We will see how popular and see how many people want to see him perform, by his numbers. REMEMBER all that **** you guys talked, cause I DO!
                  let the crying begin....

                    It's a great fight that sold out MSG but it wont be a big ppv draw. You have a Kazakh fighting a Canadian. I'd say it'll do about 250k buys which would still be a success for everyone involved.

                    GGG is building a following but isnt quite a star just yet. A win over Cotto or Canelo would take him to that next step.

                      over 250k is respectable for a first PPV. Over 300k would be successful and puts him on par with the likes of Cotto and Canelo.
