Deontay Wilder will not face Alexander Povetkin next

I really didn't think they wanted to fight Stiverne either, instead preferring Arreola has the route to the title. That is why I thought they made Stiverne fight Arreola twice as they waited for Vitali to relinquish. Wilder made the fight though and i was wrong...so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt even though it looks like they're playing the same games again. Part of this has to do with the rollout of the PBC and Wilder's role in that. He better not pull a Bowe, I will be disgusted with the PBC brand if he does that
Prepare to be disgusted! You can call it pulling a Bowe or quittin' like Quillen but regardless of what you call it, it will happen!Comment

I doubt he Vacates but we shall see. If he has time to take another fight before Povetkin I think he should fully do that and I see nothing wrong with it just as long as the Povetkin fight will happenWhat's wrong with it is that it would be his third voluntary defense and, by every sanctioning body's rules (if they were to enforce them), a champion is only allowed one voluntary defense. Wilder won't fight Povetkin next and he won't fight some who is GOOD. He will vacate the title and fight some bum that is of the same caliber as his last two opponents.
Not Defending Wilder, I am hard on him for like everybody else for his last 2 FightsComment

I could see Wilder fighting someone like Tarver or Cunningham, outside chance of Jennings or Thompson. A guy like Fedosov would be decent preparation for Povetkin.
Still I would have to reckon the first two because neither is very threatening and have decent name value while keeping another house name happy with a solid payday.
Nothing really wrong with it as long as they work toward the bigger fights.Comment
