I'm talking about the IBF, where they have him ranked at 11 and yet their champion is going to skip out on all the other guys ranked by their own organisation. What's the point of a championship then?

But if you really want names, an Abraham unification? Dust up on a domestic scale with Smith? Dirrell rematch would even be better than this. Maybe Anthony? I could go on and on.

I don't want to hear "this and that guy aren't available or fight can't be made". There's nothing stopping DeGale from finding someone else for a defense.

Having said that, I don't think it's a totally bad fight, just that there could have been better ones. I guess Chunky just wants to close out the year with a win and a possible Groves/Jack/AA next year. Which would be fine by my but Hearn is getting worse so don't count on it.

After losing the first 9 rounds badly, Bute came back and put the hurt on Pascal in the final 3. Even prior to that, Bute had enough on his shots to keep Pascal from just walking him down.

DeGale doesn't walk through shots and apply pressure like Froch - Bute's going to have to time to warm up and get to work. Also I think DeGale's power is overrated from the Periban fight. Periban had bad weight cut issues due to traveling and of course it was a Howard Foster stoppage. Most mid level guys go the distance with DeGale.

If it happened for real It'd probably be a very close fight, because of Dirrell's size advantage. But at this stage of their careers they are worth the same if not Murray a little more coming off a solid performance vs Martinez.
Murray wasn't coming off that performance though was he? Another fallacy laid out by GGG fans, he had a few fights after that where he looked pretty ****. Was lucky to get by Khomitsky.

Andre Direll is just better than him in every single department, it's not even a debate

If Bute wins this it would be hilarious, tbf I think an old Mikkel Kessler would KO Degale but Bute hmmm I'm not so sure he needs to bring his A game and fight smart DeGale is open to body shots infact he is open to every shot so take your pick Bute.

            It's a voluntary title defence.

You said someone higher in the rankings - there are two available options. Porky Medina and Brian Nielsen? Which one of those would you have preferred? Are either better than Bute?

Arthur Abraham is fighting Murray. Smith? As in Paul Smith? Are you taking the piss? Andre Dirrell is fighting Blake Caperello. Anthony just fought Rubio.

            Please do go on.

So you don't want to hear facts. You'd rather pretend that the guys in the IBF rankings are not either unavailable or worse than Bute even though it's the truth. There's no point debating someone who denies reality.

Hearn? DeGale signed with Haymon, it's a PBC card. I guess that's the axe you're grinding though.

You're also missing out the fact that DeGale is travelling to Canada for the fight where Bute draws a huge crowd. Commercially, it's a big fight and exposure for DeGale.

Degale just has to land a couple of hard punches early. If it doesn't flat out ko Bute it'll put him in his shell all night for an easy ud

The hate this fight is getting is unreal. Was he meant to fight to Ward in his first defense? No one has offered even one viable alternative. Bute has lost to one of the best 168lbers of all time in Froch and a very good 175lber in Pascal, yet he's a bum. There have been dozens of worse first defenses of a title than this one.

Pedigree, Bute is a lucrative name and a former champion.

Yes, but if this was in London, people would be saying he is holding the title hostage. How many other champs did it?

Like whom? You can factor out Joe "no champs trained" Gallagher's fighters, Fielding? Buglioni? LOL. Degale was a 9 fight Lonsdale champ and 13 fight EBU. Please do tell me which domestic guys have a chance?

Hearn is still promoting DeGale I believe.

Also, if you know about boxing, you know I don't mean Paul Smith.
