would have voted for deontay wilder but the TS didn't put him in the poll. when Kovalev beat Caparello he was ranked about the same as Duhaupas, wilder's opponent. TS included Kov in the poll.

chudinov and quillin were omitted as well.

Estrada or jack are good choices.

Duhaupas is a journeyman. He wasn't ranked by The Ring, Transnational or ESPN and he was BoxRec 34 at heavyweight (he's now 40).

He was beaten by Francesco Pianeta, who you said was a poor opponent for Klitschko, remember? He was also outboxed by Teper, who is obviously has limited skills. Duhaupas has very poor footwork and doesn't put punches together, he really isn't able to throw combinations.

And he's not so durable. Duhaupas has been knocked down in the past by a cruiserweight with a 25% KO ratio. I'll post the video if you like.

Caparello was undefeated, if I remember correctly he was rated Ring 10 and I'm certain he was rated 10 by Boxrec at light heavyweight. He's not lost since then. He's not great, but he's a fringe contender while Duhaupas is a journeyman.

Both looked good, but their opponents were journeymen. Level of opposition has to be a factor.

I agree. I voted for Estrada and I see other knowledgeable posters have as well.

you put wlad in the poll when he beat Leapai and Pienata, remember?

I believe duhapas was ranked like 15th by a sanctioning body. I believe Caperello was also ranked between 12-15 by a sanctioning body when he fought Kov.

So if opposition level is a factor, be consistent. The lack of consistency suggests it really isn't.

Wilder should have been included, but he shouldn't have gotten any votes. He manages to look like poo (see avatar) even in a dominant fight over a low-rated opponent.

You don't understand the difference between a fringe contender and a journeyman, my simple fellow.

Caparello was ranked higher than you say by the sanctioning orgs, and more importantly, 10 by The Ring and by Boxrec.

And Kovalev wanted to fight Stevenson at that time, but Adonis went into hiding behind Haymon.

Duhaupas was beaten by the only two decent boxers he ever faced: Pianeta and Teper.

Why did you complain about Klitschko fighting undefeated Pianeta, yet you want Wilder to be fighter of the month for struggling against Duhaupas? Pianeta didn't have a swollen eye after his fight with Duhaupas, neither did Teper.

Leapai isn't very good, but he was a mandatory, not a carefully-chosen soft journeyman like Duhaupas.

Think more carefully about "mandatory" "contender" "journeyman" and what those words mean.

I don't want wilder, chudinov or quillin to be FOTM, I just want names included.

Opposition level is too subjective. Those words in quotes describe opponents but not their level. One can be a mandatory still not be quality-see Kov v Mohammedi- mandatory that was a 40-1 underdog, or Leapai. Caparello surely wasn't quality opposition even though he was ranked. You put GGG on when he beat Monroe. Was Monroe ranked, yes was he "quality opposition"? no.

                So again, just be consistent.

Wlad and wilder are not on the same level. Unless suddenly you think they are. Geez tunney, FFS think a bit.

I never posted or suggested duhapas was a good opponent. In every pre fight post regarding this thread I criticized him as an opponent.

I said that you put wlad in when he beat pianeta, you put kov in when he beat caprello and mohammedi, you put GGG in when he beat Monroe.

Since you did, you should put wilder in for beating duhapas because duhapas is the same level of "opposition quality" as the opponents listed above, even though some of those may have been ranked or the mandatory.

you clearly didn't use "opposition quality" as a factor when you placed these men on the FOTM list. SO please, be consistent.

Badou Jack is my leading FOTY candidate right now. Won two championships fights in which he was an underdog
