The fight many are calling the best pound for pound fighter in the world, Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, says it's very possible that he'll have the opportunity to meet, and exceed, the record of 49-0 that Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently matched with heavyweight great Rocky Marciano.

Mayweather matched Marciano's record earlier this month when he got a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Didn't Chavez sr go undeafeted until fight 80 something? Why is 49 such a special number to reach?

It's special if you retire with an unblemished record, and that is the highest amount of wins it's been done with.

Marciano was a HW who fought the best of his generation. His 49-0 was against opponents in an unlimited weight class. And he was only 190 pounds! And he fought 15 rounds!!

Whilst being tremendous accomplishments, Mayweather's record does not stand up as a like-for-like comparison and neither will Chocolatito's. So please drop the comparison Boxing Scene.

Because he didn't retire when he reached 80...something and 0. He fought on and eventually lost several times. The record is OFFICIALLY retiring with the longest and perfect (without draws) undefeated streak.

49-0 is a Heavyweight record, and the significance is only for American boxers, its why they only mention Floyd plus you have to retired undefeated isn't Floyd the only American to tie Rocky? Didn't Larry Holmes lose his 49th fight

Chocolatito should be trying to out do guys in his weight class like Ricardo Finito Lopez 51 and 0
