This is always going to be the case with GGG. No matter who he fight in that hollow division, he is not going to get credit till he challenges himself.

And Ward has beaten a grand total of six ranked contenders in the last six years - hardly Joe Louis level dominance, is it?

The only fighters he's faced in the last 6 years that weren't top contenders were Shelby Pudwill, and a comeback fight with Paul Smith. Shouldn't even take the Smith fight into account since he was out nearly 2 years and had the right to a tuneup.Last edited by doom_specialist; 09-30-2015, 05:31 AM.

You kinda just helped me out there lol

Not taking the Smith fight into account since he was out nearly 2 years and had the right to a tuneup, Pudwill is the only blemish on his record in 10 fights, because he fought Edison Miranda who was also a contender directly before Pudwill.

Let's see. In the last 4 years he beat the #4 guy in his division, then the #2 guy in his division (because he was already #1), and then he beat the #1 guy at LHW. He then fought a top 10 SMW (Rodriguez was #7), then had a 20 month layoff, and recently had a tuneup. Since that 20 month layoff, he's maintained his position on the pound for pound list, is still undeniably the best SMW in the sport, and his only clear threat is a man who has 3 belts at LHW. Gonna say that's been a pretty legit 4 years, minus the inactivity of courseLast edited by doom_specialist; 09-30-2015, 05:48 AM.

If wrote those with a straight face just stop following this sport please.
You bring up Kessler and Abraham seriously? I mean Abraham is ATG in jumping rope..
Froch win was great, he schooled him, thats it up until this point. And he is going back and forth retiring and coming back to beat Paul Smithes.
GGG had been superiorly active and had similar type of opposition in his division but he is knocking them out like they are nothing. He has yet to have a signature win which everone would consider great, though, he knocked out Murray who has arguably beaten and knocked down Martinez (P4P top 3 at that time) in his hometown.
