Comments Thread For: Froch: Andre Ward is P4P 1, Golovkin Not in My Top Ten

To me, the #1 spot is vacant. I think Ward and Rigondeaux have the best claims to the top spot. But somebody has to reavh out there and grab the title of P4P King.
As for GGG, I think I understand where Froch is coming from. When I think of the P4P list, I think elite fighters. And when I think about an elite fighter. I think about a fighter that's either beaten a fellow elite. Or, a fighter that has years of dominance against top competition. GGG has neither. So personally, I don't consider GGG an elite fighter. As for his place on the P4P list, the pickings are kinda slim. I haven't sat and made a list recently. But I'd imagine it'd be pretty tough to make a list of 10 without GGG on it. Regardless of whether I see him as an elite fighter or not.

First of all, Golovkin wouldn't fill out Wembley because no one in the UK knows who he is and Froch would be the one offering it to Golovkin.
Froch didn't need Golovkin especially when it didn't bring nearly as much money as the Groves rematch did.
None of that changes the fact that Golovkin doesn't deserve his P4P ranking. You base your list on hypothetical wins, I base mine on real ones.

Golovkin turned down Ward. I couldn't care less about the guys that turned him down after that display of cowardice.
There's a reason why Golovkin is the biggest joke in boxing right now. It's his fear of competition. I've never seen someone go from revered to ridiculed as fast as Golovkin. What a joke he's become.

Talk is cheap
It's cute that GGG fantards think that Froch retired because of him. I guess it's something to hold onto when you don't have much else. Aww bless.

I dont dispute that Ward can be P4P #1, his opposition of late isnt that of p4p king though. When considering p4p i look at skills AND opposition and ive always assumed thats the collective criteria. Ward established himself as the #1 SMW with his Super 6 wins and proved his superiority over that crop of fighters, who are no longer active or retired. Theres a brand new crop of SMWs who Ward has yet to face. His inactivity has dropped his rating. Froch, Kesslar, etc., are all great wins, dont get me wrong but that was 4 yrs ago, and although he hasnt lost, he has yet to reassert himself over the current top SMWs. Same goes for Rigo, dude has sublime skills but theres gotta be a point when opposition level is considered.
I like GGG but hes not top10 P4P...neither is Brook. One fighter im sure abput; Vlad is THE P4P #1 in the sport right now. Outside of him i gotta admit its difficult to pick the rest when almost nobody is fightn each othrr. Boxing is in a sad sad state. If it wasnt for the smaller wts we wouldnt see top vs top. WW is probably the most overrated div atm also.Last edited by wlliam; 09-29-2015, 09:38 PM.
