Or you'd have to grow GGG proportionally to 168. P4P assumes that the fighter will keep his abilities across all weight classes. If this is the case, Ward would absolutely wreck Golovkin, considering that he's fought and dominated bigger, stronger, taller, and longer armed fighters in Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler.

That reasoning taken into consideration, wouldn't GGG have to make it worth Ward's while to drop to 164? No 50/50 and a catchweight, and Ward is supposed to just bend over and like it? Where's the payoff for 164 if GGG is gonna win an SMW title? Leonard and Hagler went 50/50 despite Leonard being the A-side, but Leonard paid $1M extra for the in ring advantages. Seems a fair deal, but team GGG is just trying to screw Ward with no Veseline.Last edited by doom_specialist; 10-01-2015, 01:28 AM.Comment

So now the A-side has to make concessions to the B-side? I suppose that's fair if it's a championship bout. However, Canelo had no MW belt when GGG said he wouldn't fight him there, but would go there for Floyd, so it's still a duck lol.

But just for the record even if it were a non-title fight, making a guy drop down and giving him nothing in return is crap and you know it. What high profile fighter would accept the deal GGG gave Ward? And how is the man who cleaned out 168 a coward? I know you can't answer either with real explanations, so I'll wait for whatever gibberish you can cook up.Comment

And here's them offering 154 to Cotto before he won the MW belt:
Abel Sanchez, the trainer for WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, thinks that Golovkin should be in the running for a fight against Floyd Mayweather
But once the MW championship is at stake, it better be 160 or they pay up the nose for carrying the belt that's too big for them.Comment

Not true, here's team GGG offering Canelo 156 less than a year ago, before he was lined up to fight Cotto for the MW belt:

As far as Cotto, we're on the same page (even though I never brought Cotto up when making my original argument). If you want a catchweight, you gotta pay for it. That said, if GGG wants Ward at 164, he's gonna have to pony up, just like Cotto or Canelo would have to.Comment

The way you rag on Ward I'd swear he stole your girlfriend or something. That you called Ward a coward tells me to not even take your posts seriously.

ward is a coward. that is well documented. he turned down bute, stevenson, froch 2, and degale and tried to fight sartison, truax, and zac dunn. if ggg turned down the best in his division and tried to fight bums just imagine what you would say. but ggg did the opposite. he tried to fight the best and they turned him down yet you like ward because he had some good wins 4 years ago but they were all on his terms with his corrupt refs that let him cheat. ggg doesn't need to cheat to win. stop supporting cheaters. people like you ruin boxing for the rest of us.Comment

Less than a year ago, he said no problem to catchweights. Less than a year ago again, he said no catchweights at all. Gonna go with his most recent take on things. 154 for Mayweather is cool. 154 for Canelo is not. Quack quack. If Canelo wins a middleweight belt this will all be moot anyway though, so let's not argue over the past. Cotto or Canelo is getting in the ring with GGG next year, and it's gonna be a good ass match.

They were willing to pony up, give 50/50 to the bigger B sider for the weight concession when they're clearly the bigger draw. But again, it's not analogous to Cotto/Canelo, since GGG does not hold the SMW lineal title, and Ward is not his mando.Comment

Yes, Ward wants a money fight. He wanted it at his weight and 50/50. Of course though, we have to have the "A-side/B-side" argument. GGG is the A-side, and he's gonna dictate what happens financially, so no 50/50. He wants a catchweight at 164, and doesn't want to give anything back in return. According to you that's total crap, but you're defending it now :/Comment
