I personally want Cotto to win but lets face it the guy is nearing the end of his HOF career. As badly as I want to see the ginger get beaten he has the faster fresher legs. In this fight it could be all the difference.

BTW this year PR vs MX is going like 100 to 4 in favor of PR... HAHAHAHAHAH
No proof of bricks in the Margo vs Cotto fight

But Cotto will win! Canelo doesn't have stamina or the heart that margarito did.

I probably say this too often. . . true: no direct evidence of bricks in Margarito's gloves against Cotto -- just circumstantial evidence (which counts). At the same time, no fighters or trainers (i.e., people who are in the game and know better than biased fans) have come to Margarito's defense regarding the first Cotto fight. Sure -- that doesn't count as proof, I get that, but it certainly tilts the scale.

It's great that Cotto has such confidence , becuse it's going to make it much sweeter to see Cottos retirement party come November 21st without any excuses. The Chingasos that's in store for Cotto is going to feel very serious when Canelo lands and diva starts to back peddle.

But it's going to be very interesting to see what happens if/when Canelo lands a clean shot. Cotto hasn't been hit hard in a long, long time.

It's going to be equally interesting to see how well Canelo handles Cotto's power. Cotto will land on him, and with greater precision and purpose than the one-dimensional, wild-swinging Kirkland.

How good is Canelo's chin? Has it really been tested?
I mean I been looking at both fighters fighters and the more I see them the more I favor Cotto. Cottos jab alone is going to give Canelo huge issues the night of the fight. Canelo likes to reset his attack when he gets hit and Cottos jab is not only strong is ****ing accurate. Is like getting hit with a powerfull straight right hand. Lets not forget about Cottos movement in and out. He wont stay right in front of casnelo to get countered. You also have to look and Canelos punch out put the dude just doenst throw enough punches and he doesnt fight the whole 3 minutes of every round. Is crazy how people are basically only looking at Canelos size and youth advantage and basically giving him the fight on thos two factors alone and ignoring that Cotto hold all the other advantages.

I have to admit that I'm really hyped about this fight. There are so many unknowns at least on paper.

              1. Mosley and Floyd said that Cotto has the heavier hands out of the 2, but Trout said otherwise, that Canelo is the 1 with heavier hands.
              2. Floyd said that Canelo has pretty good boxing skills but that Cotto took more chances. So, what does this means? If Canelo feels Cotto's punches would he still press the action? To me, the way to beat Cotto is either you are long and really good on your back foot or you're a volume puncher that puts pressure on your opponent. Would Canelo put pressure on Cotto?
              3. Cotto is susceptible to rt hands and uppers and Canelo has a very good straight rt hand and good uppers, but so is Canelo to left hooks, which is Cotto's signature punch (best weapon in the fight IMHO).
              4. I've noticed Canelo's defense has gotten better, slipping punches much better now, but Cotto offense is really good. Would he try to box with Cotto?
              5. Canelo has the tendency of taking breaks on the ropes and counter opponents, this would be a really bad thing to do against Cotto. On the other hand, if Canelo pin Cotto against the ropes, Cotto will get KO, but Canelo is poor cutting the ring off. So, would Canelo be able to put Cotto against the ropes?
              6. Both have really good inside game, but Canelo is physically bigger, fresher and stronger than Cotto. Would Cotto want to fight on the inside?
              7. Canelo tends to reach out, if you fight him on the outside. Would Cotto then try to keep the fight from the outside?
              8. What would dominate Cotto's jab and left hook or Canelo's rt hand and uppers?
              9. Who out the 2 would be able to work the body?
              10. Does Canelo youth and hand speed surpass Cotto's experience and power?

Man, this fight has all the ingredients to be a phenomenal fight!!!

Good analysis. I agree on all points (especially Cotto's jab)...just don't know what's going to happen if/when Canelo lands a clean shot.

What really kills me, though, is that I'm going to be traveling overseas and won't get to watch the fight while it's happening! I may have to try to avoid all coverage of it for a full week after it happens and then watch the HBO replay when I get back to the states...

When has Cotto ever made excuses? Even after the first Margarito fight, Cotto took the loss like a man. It wasn't until Magarito was exposed as a criminal that Cotto began to raise questions about the first fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember him making excuses after any of his other losses.

Fought so many top opponents when they were near or close to their peak. Continues to do it! And has won titles through four divisions and will one day walk into the Hall of Fame.

Yet on here, the children pass little notes to each other that say "Cotto is ****** hee-hee." Anyway, regardless of what's happened, Miguel has had a fine career. I can't thank him enough for making another fight the fans want to see.
                    Great post !

                    Agree with every word.

Cotto is a legend, had an outstanding career.

No idea why he aint more popular.

I also agree with your pick, exactly..... the advantage goes to the younger man, wishing both guys the best of luck, but rooting for Cotto.
