This man has done more damage to boxing than anybody I know of, I mean this mofo tried to change the sport of boxing from being the sweet science into being 2 fighters with no skills slugging it out and seeing who's gonna get a concussion first. Boxing is a sport just like any sports and these fighters are also human beings, a fighter not wanting to get brain damaged is not a bad fighter, unfortunatley that's not what Merchant tried to teach millions of people who watched HBO over the years.
if this guy really understood boxing, he would understand what smart boxers do and try to explain it to casuals so that they can appreciate it too instead of bashing all fighters that fight in a smart fashion.

****** things to say... The entire corpus of ancient Greek texts, including almost all the works of Aristotle were preserved during the Middle Ages because of Islamic institutions.Comment

Larry merchant is a lot like Cosell. He may be crusty and insensative to the fighters at times, he may be cantankerous and even a bit arrogant. But Larry is no shill, he came up from a sportswriting beat with the Philly paper and knows quite a bit about the sport.
Just like the cult of roy used to do before Roy fell to a mere mortal, the Floyd orthodoxy has to disparage anyone who is willing to wager a truthful opinion that contradicts their own.
There is a very small chance that Floyd was legitimate in his use of the IV and most people can recognize that. Its a straw man to attack Larry's credability, as well as a cheap shot to go after him personally because he holds an opinion...An opinion based on a career that puts most Floyd fan boys to shame.Comment

Merchant basically said he's either a cheat or he's not, the only 2 options there are, and knowing how Merchant has always felt about Mayweather and his style of fighting there's no surprise which one he leans toward.Comment
