Ward is not worth more than $500 thousand if you consider the tickets he sells at the venue, the viewers he pulls in and the fighter he took on in his last fight.

Roc Nation desperately needed some major names to get noticed. They made a mistake with both of the fighters they chose. They ended up with a diva in Cotto who thinks he is bigger than the sport and can make his own rules up as he goes along and a bigger mistake in Ward because at least Cotto will actually get in the ring more than once per year. Not much more, and only on his own terms, but at least he has a following.

With Ward, they discovered they were stuck with a boxer who not only wants to be paid more than he is worth, but one who is not looking to push himself to greater heights. Ward is not interested in fighting for titles, he just wants to make a few more million with the least possible risk to himself possible.
