Kovalev is on his way to becoming a star but he needs to be able to sell tickets. Having his last fight in Vegas was a mistake by Main Events...they probably took the Vegas site to ensure they wouldn't lose any money, but it was shortsighted.

However, he still is a more popular fighter than Ward but Ward is so delusional that I doubt he would even fight kovalev or anyone else if he will be making less money.

If Ward is getting over 3 million to fight very average boxers he sure won't fight a monster like Kovalev for 3 million. Ward exists in a different world than GGG and Kovalev with different promoters who don't do business together. Talk of Ward fighting these two Russian killers is a waste of time because Ward is never going to share a ring with either of them. Ward needs to quit crying about GGG not canceling his other fights to come fight him at 168 on Ward's terms. These two boxers are miles apart and will never come together for a fight.

Ward might not be the A side right now but he's still a formidable opponent for anyone in boxing. Despite the hate Ward receives in this forum, he commands a ton of respect amongst his peers, you know the ones that actually have to get into the ring to face him.

A victory over Ward on GGG or Kovalev's resume puts either fighter into the HOF. That alone allows Ward to demand more than 3 million........

Ward has higher ratings on HBO then Kov historically draws more people and has accomplished more but yeah Kov's the A-side makes sense to me.
