Almost 12 years, that's a great achievement. It's been fun to watch.

WTH DOES ROMAN GONZALEZ HAVE TO MERIT RISE ALL THE WAY TO P4P#1 STATUS???

all the responses i get are:

      "not his fault doe"
"no great fighters around his division doe"

so why doesnt he move up to other divisions that are not weak and have notable to great opponents?

"lol his division not weak doe you got pwned"
"he moved up 3 division already doe you moron"

yea, sorry, didnt mean to pack the pounds and threaten the man's life.

112lbs is a lot to carry.....

      GTFO MORONS.
You saying all this and still didn't say ****..

Foh you're asinine if you believe Gonzalez is deserving of p4p no.1 and as of now being crowned prematurely isn't an act of in the moment penis riding. You actually proved that the move is premature because you listing opponents for other fighters but didn't list any great fighters that Gonzalez beat. You don't even know his resume at all, you are just being a weak follower.

He went to #2 and then #1 when Pea slipped against Rivera while Roy was blasting out Byrd, Paz, Sosa, and Thornton.

Gonzalez has at least had to beat 2 #1's in their class at the time, three guys who went on to unify titles, & with six wins over former titlists when he was elevated after YEARS of behind the scenes lobbying by people who said he was being overlooked. At the point Roy moved ahead of Pea at Ring, there were only four former/current titlists on his record.

Not saying Roman is as good as Roy (at all). But Ring was speculating to a degree then with only one at-the-time standout win and it's fair to point out not everyone needed Pac's long stretch.
Roy entered the P4P ranks at #8 in 1993 and got to #1 in 1996.

Gonzalez made the list in 2014, and made it to #1 the next year.

Too many hipsters will follow official P4P lists and still choose Gonzalez. It's all psychological. If Gonzalez wouldn't be in any official top 10 P4P list, I highly doubt you would see as many fans trying to defend that he is a #1 P4P fighter. It's now that he is #1 in boxing websites that fans look for things that indicate why he is number 1. Like going up 3 weight classes (so? Broner did it, he is no where near top 10), beating a Ring champ in Yaegashi (Uh Cotto beat Martinez the The Ring champ in an upset, didn't even get top 10 love), he beat a several top 10 contenders (so has Wlad, GGG, Kovalev.

Like I said, it's all psychological.

Exactly. It's was Psychology 101 taught me back in college known as the phenomenon Group think and Diffusion of responsibility.

How about a bit of context. Broner barely sc****d by the easiest champ for his third belt while Gonzalez KO'd the lineal champ in his hometown. Also it's easy to understand why Cotto's victory over Martinez isn't seen as a great achievement.

True, I remember that. I remember a lot of times during Psych 101 there were a lot of behaviors that would come up that would make me think of boxing fans

Many, many boxing fan behaviors are actually classical psychological behaviors. It's actually pretty amusing to me.

I have to agree, he Is fun to watch but certainly not the best p4p fighter at this particular time. As much as I hate to say this, Clinchko deserves the spot.
