Just saying. It took Pacquiao 5 years(5 years from his entrance into the P4P ranks), going up 7 weight classes, beating 4 ATG's, countless other top 10 contenders, and 2 Ring titles, 1 Lineal title to make it #1.

It took Gonzalez 15 months, a win over 1 Ring champ, some top 10 contenders, 3 weight classes(7lbs), to make it to #1. No future HOF'ers beaten, no ATG's, no great fighters.

          That's nothing on Roy Jones.

He went from 8th and the end of 1993 for, according to Ring's ratings, a couple wins over a barely rated Jr. Middle (Castro) and then barely rated Middle (Hopkins), to #3 for beating a middle of the pack Tate in 94 pre-Toney. He went to #2 and then #1 when Pea slipped against Rivera while Roy was blasting out Byrd, Paz, Sosa, and Thornton.

Gonzalez has at least had to beat 2 #1's in their class at the time, three guys who went on to unify titles, & with six wins over former titlists when he was elevated after YEARS of behind the scenes lobbying by people who said he was being overlooked. At the point Roy moved ahead of Pea at Ring, there were only four former/current titlists on his record.

Not saying Roman is as good as Roy (at all). But Ring was speculating to a degree then with only one at-the-time standout win and it's fair to point out not everyone needed Pac's long stretch.

Wladimir Klitschko has dominated his division for a decade. Insane number of title defenses and has damn near beaten everyone out. Opposition hasn't been great but he easily handles what it has to offer year in and year out. I'm hesitant to give the top slot to a heavyweight but Klitschko deserves to be pound for pound #1 IMO.

Kovalev need 1 more above average win so he can rightfully hold it. Either that or whoever wins Ward/Kovalev is #1.

Gonzalez NEEDS to beat Estrada, Ruen, or Inoue within the next 6 months to prove that he deserves it until the next challenge.

Otherwise, he doesn't deserve it atm. Viloria is good and all, but come on, ANOTHER past prime champ when there are 3 Great fighters in their prime waiting around you?
Sorry, dude: but I stopped reading your post when you said you thought manny beat Floyd.

Manny dropped 3 of his last 6. Can we put it to rest now?

Not shaming at all. Getting people to watch the fights. Sending links. Same way that those who saw Monshipour-Sithchatchawal lobbied for it to be seen.

I'm kind of overselling it, but man, you know fat dan is just doing it for hipster rep.

Not at all. Dan is a professional friend and he doesn't care about that and watches more than anyone save our beloved Jake Donovan.

And you are overselling because if you look at his blog, Dan does NOT have Roman one. That's a poll of several writers.

Dan went Wlad and was ticked.
