Is Roman Gonzalez really P4P no. 1?

saying who has roman beat makes you look very silly. he beat the #1 guy at 105 pounds. he beat a guy who is the #2 guy at 105 right now. he beat the lineal champ at 112 and he beat estrada who is the #2 guy at 112 right now(although he did beat him at 108) add to that a couple solid top 10 fighters and his resume seems pretty damn good. just because you don't follow the lower divisions doesn't mean these guys weren't good. also he's a clean fighter not a clinch fighter like wlad so he should get the nod since cheating shouldn't be rewarded.

I really don't get how the guy can be P4P no. 1 fighting the type of fighters he has beaten. I mean, the guy passes the eye test and could be the best fighter right now, but looking at his record, he really hasn't beaten anyone yet to have proven it.

I like his style and he has won titles in three classes and he has the longest winning streak that I know of. I agree he should have more names, but look at the divisions he is in. Brian Viloria will be a name on his ledger. To get some real names, he will have to move on up. If you could beat Rigondeaux, that would be big. There are only ten pounds between them.

Then again, this guy clears it up quite nicely. I do not follow those lower divisions that much. You definitely make a great case for him. If he has beaten that many top guys, well no wonder he is number one. And getting to be a name in America in those weight classes is not easy at all. So he has fought the uphill popularity battle to begin with. Great post!

floyd was actually p4p #2 after beating herndandez and gatti then they moved him back down because they realized that was insanity. some people just get more hype than others.

He was no. 1 by 2005 and his best win was Castillo or Corrales, neither of them a great fighter.

So, as I said, it's not all resume, although imo resume should play a big part and in my own personal criterai Floyd wouldn't be p4p no.1 in 2005 and Gonzalez isn't no.1 today.

Rigo would destroy him, probably stop him mid rounds. Weight jumps matter more in the smaller divisions which is why it's already impressive he's in his 3rd division.
