He has been a fighter and a trainer most of his life and he understood the question. His answer was clear. He thinks GGG will be the new best fighter pound for pound. You may not agree with him but he trains Cotto and Pacquiao and he still picked GGG over them as the new number 1 pound for pound guy. I don't agree with him when he says Cotto is a sure thing to beat Canelo. I know Roach is a great trainer and very knowledgeable about boxing. His disease doesn't make him less intelligent.

GGG weighs 165 30 days away from fight night, he is a straight up middleweight.
You are complaining that a natural middleweight isn't fighting a guy that has transitioned into a light heavyweight.

In less than a year Roach goes from saying he's never seen Golovkin fight to he'll be the next #1 p4p fighter. I guess he got to watch him fight.
But yeah it's no surprise he doesn't say pacquiao. Pacquiao was #1 fighter for a while, lost a couple times and he's going to retire in 1 or 2 more fights so the end is very near.

It's not rocket science. If Cotto wants out all he has to do is to vacate his title and walk away. No excuses needed. Cotto doesn't have to start whining about not being a real middleweight. If he is not a middleweight then he should not be holding middleweight titles. If he is, then he has to defend them AGAINST MIDDLEWEIGHTS.
