Loool who said Stevens would knock Golovkin out??People were saying that Stevens would knock GGG out and that Golovkin had never faced a fighter with that kind of power. Look how that worked out. Lemieux is nowhere close to the skill level that Golovkin is at. He throws wild, wide, power punches that will be simple for GGG to avoid and to counter with his own deadly short punch power. EVERY shot Golovkin hits someone with is capable of ending the fight. Lemieux does not have that skill or accuracy. I doubt Lemieux will be able to land many quality power shots on GGG as Golovkin will pick them off with his jabs or let them slip past him as he usually does.
Lemieux will quickly find himself way out of his league and people will be shocked at how easily Golovkin handles this fight.
Stop making stuff up.. next you'll be saying people said Willie Monroe will outbox him.Comment

Willie Monroe gave people lots of hope this guy can't fight on the inside...rotfl. The funny thing is both manager and trainer said people wouldn't want to fight golovkin until they saw something that they considered a vulnerability. Go back and watch Monroes glory...lol. He was being flat out toyed with and voila David saw that and took the bait. David has a punchers chance against a guy who actually likes taking punches to get into his beast mode. Golovkin stops David to the body.Comment

There were people who said that Stevens had a good puncher's chance, that Steven's was a dangerous foe. Of course once Golovkin won then Stevens was just another bum but that wasn't how it was before the fight.
And you have a short memory. There were many who said that GGG might get decision-ed by Monroe as he's a slick boxer. That was Monroe's intention but he found out GGG could cut the ring off and had no respect for his power.
Stevens may not punch as hard as Lemieux but he certainly landed flush power shots on Golovkin. Golovkin's response was to wipe his nose with his forearm, reset himself and get back to pursuing his quarry.
Lemieux does have a puncher's chance here. He may even be a slightly harder puncher than Golovkin. The one think he has going for him is his hand speed may be a grade above that of GGG. But I can't get that image of Geale and GGG landing almost simultaneously out of my mind. Geale isn't the biggest of punchers but that punch would have put some MWs on the floor or at least 'ave backed them up but Golovkin just walked right through it and landed his own.
Final thought - Golovkin IS special but he is also over-hyped. He can lose against Canelo never mind Ward. If there was a Nigel Benn or Chris Eubank Sr. or Mike McCallum around in the current MW division then he would not be avoided.Comment

One thing where Golovkin excels that is not mentioned much is that he has world class eyes. He rarely takes a punch flush as he sees it coming and moves his head at the last moment. Even as he was throwing that Geale knockout punch he saw the incoming punch and pulled his head backwards and sideways. Also keeps his chin very well tucked in. Maybe Lemieux can get some joy working the body but he'll have to take incoming counters to the head.Comment

And when he loses to a boxer who had he kept active would arguable top the P4P rankings he'll become a bum because that's how boxing works on this forum.Comment

nobody thought Stevens or Monroe had chances to beat GGG, they were both FNF fighters that were cherrypickedThere were people who said that Stevens had a good puncher's chance, that Steven's was a dangerous foe. While Golovkin was seen as the favorite that's simply not true.
You need to surf over to some other websites and get a more rounded view rather than just suck up all the fan-boy spew on this website. There were a few writers and posters who thought that Monroe stood a chance of getting a decision if he could stay on the outside all night long.Comment

Stevens was crude and a one handed fighter and never really let his hands go but when he did he had golovkin backing up in certain stanzas of the fight. David is a two handed fighter. Stevens never landed the left flush because golovkin kept his chin tucked if he had the fight would have been more interesting.Comment
