this makes no sense. why is he being warned if it's legal? it's illegal. that's a fact. or if you don't like the word illegal since you are playing semantic games it's not allowed, its against the rules, etc...it's a strategy yes and its an illegal strategy, a strategy that's not allowed, a strategy that's against the rules. you can't just say oh its only illegal sometimes. its always illegal but refs just don't enforce it most of the times unfortunately. that's like saying lowblows are legal as long as you don't lowblow excessively or as long as the ref lets you do it. thats madness. this ability to break the rulesleads to boring fights without any drama because one guy just holds anytime the other fighter gets close.

David L needs like 200k to be a successful ppv since neither guy is asking for that much, and Lemieux brings his Canada PPV. Plus it's guaranteed fireworks, casuals love that. There won't be any buyers remorse. Casuals hate clinching and spoiling, it's why hardly anybody tunes in when Ward is on basic cable.

First off its not 25% but K2/GGG aren't going to give a **** if they get a smaller purse; they just want the fight. Regardless whether or not K2 would want it to go to a purse bid is not what we're talking about. The discussion is the weight IF it does go to a purse bid.

The WBC isn't going to rewrite their rules for mandatory catchweights just for Cotto/Canelo being that they could get sued. The last thing the WBC wants is another lawsuit, which they would lose. They've nearly gone bankrupt in the past which they will certainly try to avoid and this very same belt already had an ugly legal case with Rubio. Bottom line is that IF this goes to a purse bid it would be at 160 with a fair split based on their rules. Of course Cotto/Canelo would do everything they can to make it a catchweight, obviously by dishing out more money, and Golovkin would probably take a 157 or 158 cw, who knows.

The issue for the WBC and the winner is Golovkin being mandatory has been very public. It's been on the news. Everyone in boxing knows it. The WBC will have to be very careful or risk potential lawsuits.

A fair weight? Golovkin's team know that Ward can't make 164. That's why they put it out to the media to pretend that they actually want the fight.

But they really don't want it because they're making unrealistic demands.

Ward is just tired of Little G and his team talking to the media so he decided to make them a real offer, which was of course rejected out of hand by Team GGG.

Floyd is an ATG, and a 2x, unified, lineal, reigning champ at SWW, where GGG offered to meet him. How the fcuk wouldn't you get no credit for beating a champ with those credentials? Smart strategy if the ref allows you to cheat. Klitschko vs Povetkin was a travesty of a boxing match. That is a perfect example of a fighter clearly cheating by excessive holding which altered the entire fight. We would have had a COMPLETELY different fight if the ref followed the actual rules.

lets try to find the last ppv fight that had a 2 guys that werent stars but p4p fighters and see how well it did im sure there are some out there...

It might do 350-400k in ppv buys, but Ward has still beaten the BETTER fighters and would the marquee name on the banner so 50/50 is fair imo..maybe 55/45 in Wards favor.

If it does half of that they would be lucky. The fight is not touching 400k.
