A fair weight? Golovkin's team know that Ward can't make 164. That's why they put it out to the media to pretend that they actually want the fight.

But they really don't want it because they're making unrealistic demands.

You gotta be an idiot to fight a #2 P4P at his weight. Where's the advantage in making that fight, which is not a money fight and no chance of winning?

    You guys are a joke.
Why? I thought Golovkin was supposed to be a great fighter?

Ward is just tired of Little G and his team talking to the media so he decided to make them a real offer, which was of course rejected out of hand by Team GGG.

It's true. Golovkin's team have done a fantastic job in duping the public to be fair.

They have done everything to avoid fighting guys with unfavourable styles to them whilst also marketing him as being the most avoided fighter.

If that PPV does well and the fact MSG is practically sold out and GGG is doing much higher tickets sales than Ward now on the West Coast, it's going to be very hard to do a 50-50 as time goes on and it's going to be a hard argument for Ward to demand more.

The facts are the facts, Ward is his own worst enemy. He refused to travel for practically his entire career, forcing opponents to come to his side of the fence and that hurt his marketability. During the legal battle with Goossen, he could have fought but his ego and stubbornness made him sit out from November 2013 until June 20 2015. Goossen won three legal cars brought on by Ward, who continued to look for ways out. He obviously had NO CASE since Roc Nation had to jump in and save him, by "buying" out his contract. Think about it, if RNS had not saved the day then Ward would have still been sitting out. And while he sat out, HBO shifted their marketing to Golovkin and made him into a blooming star.

In my mind there is no question Ward is better and I think he would win if they fought, but because of his own demons his claim of being the A-side in this equation is slipping away. And if that PPV does well he will certainly lose that A-side claim.
All very good points but the "more than 50%" and "catchweight at 164" etc. are all just negotiating ploys by Team GGG.

            • Seriously, I want this fight to happen. I preferred the more competitive Ward vs Kovalev fight. But who are we kidding? Ward can't even decide whether to fight Golovkin or not. So let's just give up on that Kovalev fight. It's not happening.

Fans just need to demand concrete proof and details whether this Ward guy is really serious about Golovkin, and not let him get away with just grandstanding.

The media needs to press this guy.

An official offer made by Roc Nation and confirmed by GGG's team is not concrete enough for you, kid?

Haha... I knew you're really not serious about seeing the fight. You're just content in winning forum arguments. LOL. What a joke.

These folks call someone a bum, yet they want him to fight the #2 P4P at his weight. Haha...
