I don't think he has anything to recover from. Mayweather won a 116 to 112 points fight and never once hurt Pacquiao. Getting knocked out cold by Marquez didn't stop Pacquiao from coming back stronger than ever so why should losing a reasonably close fight to Mayweather bother him that much? Pacquiao fought his way out of the worst possible poverty. He is mentally very tough.

Plus he probably really believed he would win, as a result of his own confidence, the hype and through his religious faith (repeatedly suggesting and seeming to believe that God would be the key to his victory). Even if you think, like myself, that the fight wasn't a blowout it was still a big deal to lose.

That being said, I still think the Marquez fight must have been way way more defeating mentally and physically. He was the favorite to beat a long time rival, who he had many close and disputed fights with, and was appearing to be on the way to a conclusive victory and possible stoppage when he was removed from his senses. Surely even a top fighter acknowledges that such a defeat has been career altering to previous fighters and indeed the buzz about Pacquiao simmered down for a while after that.
There's no doubt the Marquez KO was more damaging mentally and obviously physically aswell.

But he bounced back from that, because Manny is a special fighter. I don't know for sure if he will bounce back again.

But if I had to guess I'd expect him to, because like I said Manny is a special fighter with insane mental strength. I think Pacquaio has atleast one great performance left in him.

Yeah, I suppose the tough stuff he has been through (both in wins and losses) can add up. But I agree that he could put on another good fight or so. I'd like to see him once more, hopefully go out with a quality win.

I think the damage Marquez did was more damaging!
