You're right to think he wants the money. But Canelo is going to be a Middleweight eventually, technically is already. And if all the belts are in Gennady's possession he can't avoid him. No one at MW can. GGG will be the biggest paycheck in the division. Getting all the belts has been a tactical maneuver to avoid being avoided.

Guys drop belts all the time homie. If Cotto-Canelo is entertaining and competitive. A rematch is a bigger money maker for both than a GGG fight. They'd drop the belt in a heartbeat. Quillen has dropped a belt for business purposes. Can't say that I agree with this. Titles matter to the fighters. If Cotto loses to Canelo his PPV career is over. Unless it is competitive and wants a rematch (which I doubt). If Canelo loses to GGG. GGG will then become the biggest PPV attraction in the sport whether people like it or not. Unless Manny makes some big fights happen.
