Comments Thread For: Showtime Sports VP Explains Mayweather/SHO Deal

Stephen Espinoza, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Showtime Sports and Event Programming, tells BoxingScene.com that a mountain of misinformation has been reported with respect to the exclusive multi-fight agreement between his network and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In early 2013, Mayweather finalized a six fight multi-year deal with Showtime/CBS. The first pay-per-view fight of that deal was in May of that year, against Robert Guerrero. The second fight, in September of that year, came against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The following year he returned in May and September - both times against Marcos Maidana. [Click Here To Read More]

Hahaha Showtime trying to save face they dont want to look like chumps for giving that coward boatloads of money for his bunk fights. Too late, Blowtime. This also proves that Roid Pedcheater Jr was NEVER a PPV draw only the dance partners who entered the fight against corrupt judges.

I've learned not to believe ANYTHING that comes out of Espinoza's mouth.

They broke the PPV record twice in one deal. And averaged 900 - 1m otherwise. Pretty sure Showtime is VERY happy.

I can do math just fine watch this: 5+5 = Roid Pedcheater Jr lies about what he gets paid and his PPV numbers just like he lied about being Mr Clean drug test crusader while cheating and forcing other sides to sign non-disclosures about his test results.

"There was signifcantly less buzz for this event on fight compared to Mayweather's other fught during the deal"

              Not true.

I was at the fight weeks for both Guererro and Berto and there was more buzz for Berto.

Fighters arrivals was busier, the weigh in was busier and the fight itself was just as full if not more.

actually Mayweather vs Pacman should have happen on Showtime and all the money should go to Showtime but HBO fooled them all.

Niether Floyd nor showtime exercised the out clause both had which leads me to believe CBS/Showtime and Mayweather/Haymon were all satisfied with how everything played out.
