Is the Canelo chapter going to be filled with catchweight footnotes?

Canelo never defended his title at a catchweight and he never will. That's Mayweather and Cotto's game. If he fights bigger fighters than himself at 155 when no title is on the line, so what. All fighters do that all the time. Lara is always ready to fight at 160. Kirkland fought at 156 in his fight before Canelo and Angulo competes at 168 now. If Canelo wins a world title I promise you he will defend that title at the proper legal weight limit just as he did before.

the mayweather era was cool as hell, forreal.. like i didnt live during the ali era but i saw alot of the greats of the 80' and 90's as a kid... but i didnt really understand boxing... so to witness the mayweather era is a cool thing to me... the controversy, the switch in styles when he moved to 147, pac man, roger and floyd joy sr!!!! elerbees NOSE... and much more, the p@cTrd vs Flowm03 travisty is far the worst thing and most bitter thing about this whole thing tho.... fans now try to find anything they can to down a boxer these days... no support and appreciation of the art, the science and the balance it has... everything that founded the sport is now frowned upon... and more but... the bottom line is... im not sure canelo can fill the shoes of floyd and draw interest the way he did... hes good tho and can fight so ill give him respect!!!

Mayweather is probably the worst top fighter in any generation, women beater, cheater, only cares about money and business, only fights when he has all the advantages and can control everything, dodged fighters in their prime, lied to the public, extremely uncharismatic, flad character. He made his money from the people who wanted to see him lose, thats actually somewhat smart.

But i am glad Manny Pacquiao got the fighter of the decade during that era, he will be remembered as one of the all time greats, likeable person in and outside of the ring, worldwide figure, loved all around the world, exciting fighter, took huge risks and fought all around the world.

I wish Canelo the best, he will be one of the faces in boxing in the coming years, he is still so young but i really hope Oscar is true to his words and makes the fight vs GGG.

It wasn't really the mayweather era. It was the mayweather/pacquiao era. And as a fan of both I'd be the first to admit it wasn't great but it was pretty good. I'm honestly scared for what's next because tbh both of those guys make every modern day fighter look ordinary. Ppl talk about these new guys buy they are less skilled, less motivated and less everything else. That includes canelo.
