there were no better fights at the time then those period
Haha what? He coulda easily fought the whole division after dlh. margorito mosley and cotto. But he made haton move up and "retired" for a year and let mosley take out margarito. Then came and missed weight against lightweight Marquez. So

De La Hoya is just as bad as Floyd. He has a pretender in Canelo, who isn't that good, ducks good fights, lost to Lara (not officially), and has been fighting smaller fighters for awhile now.

Goldenboy isn't gonna let GGG have Canelo, they are pretenders.

De la Hoya is already making outrageous excuses. Sure Canelo can make 154, so can GGG, but they are both MW, only one has the balls to man up

Yea it can, Goldenboy's most profitable fighter is a pretender who ducks good fights. They should have given Lara a rematch, since Canelo should have lost. And Canelo is a damn MW, but won't man up. Making excuses already to duck GGG.

      Fake great!

      Domestic violence
      Being a terrible parent
His crew being involved in shootings and assaults

Being the first black man with a black slave, Mr."Massa we sick?" Leonard Ellerbe
Retiring when the division was tough

And worst of all, putting on the most boring performance of all time in the most profitable fight of all time.

I use to love Floyd, but I'm beyond rdy for him to retire, this sport needs to rebrand itself after the damage he did.
Canelo is truly the next Floyd then, minus the legal trouble, nothing about dude is real. Goldenboy and De La Hoya should be shamed for the garbage they are trying to pull on GGG.

De La Hoya doesn't want to fix boxing, he wants to manufacture a champion in Canelo. A MW at that, who doesn't fight MW.

Even if by some miracle they don't vacate the belt, They will only fight if it's at 155.

Canelo is a pretender. A blind man can see that.

Catch weights and ducks. Soft opponents and the world's premier pretender. He'll attempt to fight Jr. MW, but for MW belts.

Only Canelo and gullible fans will buy what De La Hoya is selling.

Canelo isn't that great, and Goldenboy is gonna do all it can to block GGG from unification.

I had hope for GB, but De La Hoya is a joke. All talk. He is a cleaned up version of Floyd.

He fought De la Hoya and the guy he just signed to an extension. It's pathetic listening to how bitter Oscar is with Mayweather. Then whenever he sees Mayweather in person he tries to crack jokes with him.

Who isn't reporting on it. Everyone is. At Badlefthook, there is a great article on why this matters.

Floyd Mayweather is fighting for what he says is the last time in just two days. But the bigger story this week involves his relationship with the drug testing agency USADA.

It's so sad how all these fighters and ex-fighters want to be Mayweather. The salt is real.

wow.....in the mayweather era. More people have tuned into boxing than any time in recent memory. 4.4 million people cant be wrong. Whether you like him or not. Floyd got news stations, sports reporters. ESPN, Spike, BET, radio stations (at least out here in Atlanta), social media, facebook etc. Talking about boxing again. This era showed a poor guy from the philippines rise to become one of the most beloved figures in the world winning an unheard of titles in 8 different weight classes. This era saw the first puerto rican fighter in the rich history of puerto rican fighters get up off his knee to become the first ever 4 weight puerto rican champ.
Floyds run is so well recieved that it opened the doors for people to put money into boxing and have it back on regular tv again. Canelo is benefiting from mayweathers era.

Sure it has its downsides, with all the money circulating fighters are becoming divas thinking they are owed something. But there is always pros and cons. I always here the old timers talk about when boxing was more than a niche sport and was world wide. Well now some of the best fighters in the world are from America, Russia, Canada, Philippines not just in America anymore. Boxing is gaining world wide attention again. People are becoming more knowledgable and actually care about who the fighters fight. Fighters are getting paid what they should to risk their lives for our entertainment.

oh and by the way. This mayweather era produced two fighters making more money than any athlete on planet earth in any sport and one of the best fighters to ever lace up a pair of gloves......Is it perfect hell no....but i like this mayweather era. Know one would know what da hell a Canelo is without it

Oscar fought the very best and fougt emm all didn't duck and dodged even challenged Hopkins for his MW title ..He followed in the footsteps of SRL who fought the very best ..It must turn Oscar's stomach to see what Floyd has done to the sport . Good riddance to him and welcome the new era !!!

The hate is real with him. So much so that he's willing to insult himself and a chunk of his stable.
