Which is why it only took Bob Arum a dinner date to convince Oscar de la Hoya into sabotaging his business relationships.February 23, 2011:
“They’ve got no background in boxing,” Arum, actually 79, said Tuesday of the HBO matchmakers Golden Boy Promotions advises. “They rely on Oscar, who’s a dummy. Oscar is one of the ******est guys I’ve ever met. I’m just saying what it is. The guy is really not smart. Forget just ‘not smart.’ He’s not just even average.
“I remember when we were bringing him up, we’d have to write the whole script for him. Then you give him the script and he’s great, as long as you keep him on the script. To have an original thought in his head …”

He should be for PBC what Dana White is for UFC, the President and the mouthpiece of PBC, that would be great. Would be nice if PBC had someone to answer questions like the questionable match ups starting tonight with Stevenson and also Peter Quillin tomorrow
But beyond that I think Schaefer was doing a great job with GBP while Oscar was in Rehab!Comment

Schaefer would do a much better job at running PBC than Haymon and the Watson's. Schaefer would give us fights we want to see. I'm not knocking Haymon and the Watson's for this, but they could do a much better jobComment

April 30, 2014:
"I want to end this cold war for the sake of boxing. That's it," he said. "Boxing is a sport that when you put the best against the best up in that ring, people are going to watch and people are going to fall in love with boxing all over again.
"Right now, Bob Arum has fighters and we have fighters that if we match them together, we can make some special fights together. I believe in Golden Boy and believe in boxing, and a perfect way to start helping the sport and treating the fans is by ending this cold war."
Schaefer said on Tuesday that he could not in good conscience work with Arum, and that it could be a deal-breaker.
"That guy's a disgrace, and then to have Oscar go out there and beg him for a hug," Schaefer said. "You heard the words: 'I love the guy. I want to give him a hug.'
"Maybe it is part of the rehab program. I can appreciate that and I understand that and I don't have a problem with that, if they want to make peace and they want to make up.
"But then to start doing business again with him, that's not who I am. My entire life is built on relationships.
