Why would he not be happy with Golden Boy? He was built by them, I never hear about any beef between them, the money he makes is great and gets better with each fight, he's popular and other then Floyd and Manny he is the biggest star in boxing right now. But unlike those guys who are pushing 40 and have few fights left he's young and still on the rise with another decade left in the game. I've said many times Schaefer tried to screw Oscar over but Oscar woke up and found out what was going just in time. Yeah he lost some fighters but he kept the big fish, the one all promoters would die to have. In boxing 4 quarters don't equal one dollar. It's quality not quantity. Haymon has tons of decent fighters that left Golden Boy but none with the superstar appeal of Canelo. Golden Boy can build up and replace ANY of the fighters they lost. It's not easy to build and replace guys like Canelo. They got Canelo, Matthyse, Lemieux, Linares and tons of young guns in Sadam Ali, Gomez, Caballero, Francisco Vargas, Orozco, Ortiz. Golden Boy has proven they know how to develop stars.

I like Golden Boy's roster. They have some nice young talent. The problem will be finding good opponents, though. Haymon has a good majority of the solid fighters now. It makes it really hard for the other promoters to operate, as well as the tv situation.

Canelo was already loyal to Oscar to be with him this long. He doesn't need to sign another deal to show loyalty. A deal is a deal.

There is lil doubt in my mind if Canelo wins this next fight & it has a nice PPV buy rate Canelo could've drummed up many competitors for his services or like I always suggest big name guys do just freelance yourself out to the highest bidder each fight.

Canelos fan base isn't the ratchet trash that Fighters like Floyd amd Broner have. Those guys will will leave as soon as there favorite fighter loses.

That's why black fighters don't sell, if it wasn't for haymons welfare program, black fighters wouldn't be making any $.

I embrace Canelo being the new PPV king of boxing. He fights everybody, doesn't duck difficult styles, he takes pride in his craft and has shown significant improvement over the years. One of few fighters who wants to be the best and create his own lane instead of piggy backing off another mans. Boxing is in good hands.

Canelo and GBP are tailor made for each other. DLH and Cenelo seem to get on, and I think it's a perfect fit. They will definitely look out for the kid, and he can be boxing's next big super star once Mayweather and Pac are gone from the sport.

We need names like Canelo in the sport.

Agree 100 on the loyalty stuff just in general cuz its pretty much a richman hustle to get the less rich man for cheaper than he's worth. But yea I believe Canelo did drop someone previous to GBP.

I know this much Canelo's manager needs to be fired. He's a moron for letting Canelo sign this deal when he is potentially gonna be winning one of the biggest PPV events in boxing history in a couple months & they coulda "been loyal" to Oscar in December & probably gotten paid more. Oscar laughing all the way to the bank with how much money he saved signing a deal before that fight.

And I think that twitter guy is talking out of his ass. From my understanding of the MAA a promoter can only sign a fighter for 3 years iirc. I think any extension behind that would be some sketchy promoter contract **** & while I disapprove of this situation I have a hard time Oscar would get down like that. Maybe just a handshake situation like the Cotto/TR thing.
