MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs), and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, brushed off any notion that Saturday's Showtime Pay-Per-View event would be a financial failure.

Mayweather will defend his belts against former two-time welterweight champion Andre Berto.

The match has not been popular with the fans, because most of them believe there were many other opponents who were far more deserving of the opportunity.

Why does it feel like they literally have no idea what they're talking about? No matter how you want to twist it and turn it,there's about 2000 tickets left unsold,and there's only 3 days left till the fight. For the whole mayweather squad,who's biggest point of pride has been how quickly they sell out and how much people want to see Floyd fight,they're suddenly switching their tune to "oh,tickets don't matter,what matters is live gate.".

I still think it will sell out only because of the name sake of Floyd but apart from that there are like two half decent undercard fights on its just the mainevent that stinks the joint out.

StubHub spokesman Glenn Lehrman said the leading resale site had an average ticket sale price of $5,095 for Mayweather’s fight against Pacquiao, while the average sale for Saturday’s fight is more than six times less ($799). I don't see why this is a surprise. This is not the fight most of us wanted to see and any fight outside of GGG would be a downer coming off the huge Manny fight.

I wonder how the movie theatre sales will be because I do not expect PPV sales to eclipse 700k, especially if Serena is in the US Open finals.

I think Floyd/Khan would have drew much more interest. Especially from the casual fanbase. Khan has personality unlike Berto and can sell a fight with all the crap he talks. LOL.

makes sense given Khan is better than Berto and has the English fanbase to draw from. He would do a better job of selling the fight as well.

I think Floyd was looking for an easy fight to fulfill the Showtime contract and get Floyd to 49-0 so the 50th fight is more of a big deal.
