This is taking in your high expectation of 700k PPV buys actually happening.
Mayweather-Guerrero did significantly more than 700k PPV buys, and Guerrero's name wasn't buzzing that hard (depending on who you believe, that PPV did 800k-1m PPV buys). Berto's name, heading into this fight, is arguably bigger than Guerrero's name heading into his fight with Floyd (added caveat of also coming along with the "Floyd's last fight" story)

Showtime owes Mayweather $32m, regardless of how many buys it does; $65 per PPV (Showtime keeps the HD fee) and Floyd needs 900k PPV buys to cover the costs, off of solely the sd fee, a figure not out of line with what Floyd's been able to draw for fights with Guerrero and the fight Maidana fight (both of whom were seen as longshot opponents when the fights were made).

With Showtime having already made their own killing off of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight ($5 hd fee for each of the ~4.4m PPVs sold, plus the 3.5% network fee off of the ~$400m in sd PPV revenue and you're looking at Showtime pocketing $40m for the fight, well beyond what anyone could've fathomed for the fight), I'm pretty confident that they'd be fine with even just another Mayweather-Guerrero number.
