  • Prime James Toney vs GGG?

Who wins this fight and how.

I got James by a wide UD.Toney was a beast in his prime.Golovkin couldn't handle Toney's speed or his inside fighting.

Would be a great fight because GGG is a counterpuncher himself he just comes forward, not backwards, so u have one of the best inside counterpunchers in history that's excellent at countering while standing on the inside and you have GGG who excellent at countering while moving forward and has a great jab, I would give Toney a slight edge, but that would've been a tremendous fight.

        Toney.

GGG is one of my favorite fighters now, but I can't pick very many fighters over a prime James Toney.

Toney by decision. Both have very good chins, so fight should go full distance.

At 160 Golovkin KO's a stamina lacking and sluggish Toney. 168 not sure because we don't know how golovkin's power will carry up and Toney's best performance (imo) was at that weight class.

Golovkin doesn't seem to tire and Toney may land some good shots in the pocket but I don't think they would hurt Golovkin too badly. Toney has the reputation of being iron chinned which i suppose is justified as he has gone up to heavyweight and not been stopped but at 160 he could get hurt especially against a big puncher in Golovkin. I don't think Golovkin would let Toney off the hook and would stop him in 10 or 11.

Toney gets mythical credit for what he could've been imo but I only go by what I saw at the weight class.

                Toney via wide UD.

                Counter punching clinic.

Nonsense.....GGG would not lay a glove on Toney. Monroe had him missing up close and he doesn't have 5% of Toney's ability. Toney took the same time to KO Michael Nunn as it did GGG to KO Martin Murray..seriously can people stop overrating this guy who has beaten no one.

Instinctively you would say Toney in a dominant performance. But Toney's inconsistency gets overlooked a lot of the time. He could be unbelievable but he could also be very flat and struggle to get anything going.

Would still say Toney but it's not inconceivable that GGG makes it interesting. Toney was more hittable than people seem to remember. He just had a granite chin.
