Comments Thread For: Cortez: Mayweather Not Fooling Me With Retirement Talk

Joe Cortez, a former veteran referee and now an expert analyst for major outlets like ESPN Deportes, says the public is still very sour over Floyd Mayweather's last pay-per-view fight - against Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd.

The fight with Pacquiao broke every possible financial record in boxing and had 4.4 million buys on pay-per-view.

The aftermath of that match is another matter. Fans were furious with the lack of action after paying a record $100 dollars for the pay-per-view - and matters were made worse when Pacquiao revealing that he entered the fight with a right shoulder injury. [Click Here To Read More]

People are so sure that Floyd isn't retiring.

        Strange.

To me I think it's a very likely scenario.

Everybody swore Barry Sanders was going after Walter Payton's rushing record too. He was well within reach.

Legacy sealed, physical skills diminishing with more money than he can count.

            49-0 is plenty good enough.

I seriously think Mayweather will fight for 50.And i think may fight onne more to break the record too.

But there is no solid fighter to come against him at his weight.Mayweather would easily beat Brook,Thurman,Khan,Bradley,Porter and Garcia.

Theres only 2 fighters out the 6 i mentioned who bring extra money to the table and that's Khan and Brook. The others simply don't bring the money. That's the only 2 fighters i see him fighting.

I'm a bit skeptical about it too. I really have a hard time seeing Floyd walking away from the spotlight. Floyd can't even talk about fighters that he promotes without somehow turning the conversation around about himself. I'll believe it when i see it, but i don't think he's ready to see another fighter takes his spot as the top P4P king and #1 PPV seller yet.

Mayweather is going to fight till Hopkins' age, as long as there are fools who pay to watch him running. everytime I watch him fighting, I keep my eyes wide-open trying to notice any of the magic of the TBE, but I seldom see anything, except in slow-mo gifs of his fans signature trying to make people understand why he won!

Every Mayweather vs X fight thread on Boxingscene goes like this:

                    Round 1 : Mayweather's
Round 2 : Close but still Mayweather got it
Round 3 : X is taken to the school
                    Round 4 : the party begins 4-0
Round 5 : X didn't do enough to win it
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    Round 12 : shutout

and when the score is announced 119-109 they start to complain about the blind referee!!

I feel like there is someone paying for those posters! hehehe
