Oscar seems to still be somewhat delusional in the aftermath of his drug addiction. This happens. The blame game rather that facing the reality that the boxing game is short lived for boxers. Fighter can't afford to risk their short lived careers waiting while Oscar run around in fishnets & snorting *******. They abandoned a sinking ship as they saw it for a solid future and more money, simple.

When ODL created Golden Boy he was one of the biggest crossover names in entertainment. Shaefer used ODL name and contacts withing boxing to build the Golden Boy brand. If it was called Richard Shaefer promotions it wouldn't have been the same. Shame Shaefer had to be so shady and try and get over on a guy going through personal ****. I have no doubt Oscar will build GBP back up. ODL name is worth more than any number cruncher and Oscar has shown he is willing to make the fights the fans wants. He just needs to build up that young stable again.

Don't even know where this "Schaefer built GBP" thing came from. Oscar may have strayed briefly, but he was there most of the time promoting fights. He was in the UK promoting even mediocre fights as Khan vs McCloskey. He was also wrongly accused of being a softie when it comes to Arum. Man, this is the guy who tried to steal Pacman away from Arum. He could get dirty if he wanted to.

Please show me the legit proof from a respectable source that GBP didn't make any money on the De La Hoya vs Mayweather & Mayweather vs Alvarez bouts. I'll wait. Guessing I'll be waiting awhile.

Schaefer truly screwed Oscar over. He got in bed with Haymon, and they both pretty much exploited Oscar's substance issues.
Saying that, Schaefer is very smart when it comes to boxing. He did a lot of good work whilst at Golden Boy, and without him, Haymon's whole PBC model looks poor.

Originally posted by JoeMan View PostGBP, represented by Schaefer, got a mere $2 million as promotional money from the Canelo vs TBE fight. That's all they got. Schaefer's only leverage was being able to add his fighters on the undercards. But then, they're no longer GBP fighters at that time. They were Haymon fighters.

$2 million was not a profit and it is not much for a promotional money in a high profile fight. The state-wide tour alone would used up every cent of that figure.
