Comments Thread For: De la Hoya Explains Falling Out, Tension With Schaefer

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has bounced back on his feet after a bitter falling out with longtime company CEO Richard Schaefer early last year.

Something in his contract with GoldenBoy that if he resigns he can't work in Boxing for 2 years or something along those lines.

His no-compete expired on August 31. He can work in boxing now, if he chooses.

          Oh really, interesting.

That's very recent, wonder if he has plans with Haymon and Floyd in the future.

Something tells me that this wouldn't be the first time that a banker took advantage of someone's substance abuse to do some underhanded dealings.

It's farfetched but I wouldn't be surprised if Schaefer actually put Oscar in situations where he would be tempted by drug use and sex. What better way to keep his mind adled and to distract him from a posssible takeover of his company?

Even though it's unethical and morally wrong to do something like this, but this is business, u can't be a stand up guy and a successful businessman at the same time, by successful I'm talking about Schäfer or Haymon or Oscar or Arum, not a restaurant owner.

There are no friendships in business when millions are on the line, u gotta have ur gaurd up at all times.

You do have to have your guard up at all times. I agree.

But that type of **** is so slimy and underhanded.
