I'll take Tua's lack of response to my post (# 37) as a concession to my points.

Regardless, I'm not trying to make a case for Cotto as the greatest P.R. champion ever. I'm just trying to right a wrong. You can't twist facts to pick Cotto's record apart. A careful review of his opponents since the very beginning will reveal what I already mentioned. That his opponents stack up well against anybody's out there today.

Cotto is a good fighter and has a good resume, but he seems to get a lot of credit for the losses on his record as well. Fighting top names and beating them is one thing, but getting paid astronomic amounts to lose is a victory in its own right, but a loss on his record Nonetheless.

Imagine if Mayorga was overrated for having simply faced all the good names he lost to throughout his career, granted, he's not nearly as talented as Cotto, but still.

At the end of the day Cotto has a solid resume, not great but good enough.
Duran gets credit for fighting Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Ray Leonard, Wilfred Benitez even though he lost to all of them. I think ppl are too hard on Cotto for his loses.

So take your whiney ass elsewhere.
there was a time when PR boxing fans here didn't care about A-SIDE or calling shots or purses....

it was about good fights and fighting good opponents.

now cotto stans talk like floyd fans...... except with a MUCH lesser fighter.

A loss is a loss brah. Shit I wish it were really like that cause it would make DLH greater than what he is already.

                Uh huh.

Do you know how many greats have come from Puerto Rico?

Carlos Ortiz, Bazooka Gomez, Wilfredo Benitez, Tito Trinidad, Edwin Rosario, Hector Camacho, Esteban de Jesus.

Look up those guys accomplishments and guys they beat.

Cotto was never the Lineal Champion at 140, 147 or 154.

Cotto was never #1 P4P, #2 P4P, #3 P4P in any year. Was he even a Top 5 P4P? Maybe for a few weeks? Low end Top 10 P4P for a couple years?

Who was the Greatest Fighter Cotto beat? 36 yr. old Mosley? 40 yr. old Martinez? Winless in 2 yrs. Judah? Prime Malignaggi?
Wow! So many facts. If they are all accurate, which I have reason to doubt, his team are marketing greats!

                Thanks for the stats

he was a LW great losing to WW, JMW, MW's.

cotto has no such wins and he was a WW losing to FW, LW.

Hoya got one of the ******est resumes of all time. I've always said that. He's fought a lot of top names. Win or lose. I never **** on the Golden Boy. Only bad thing I ever said about him was that he literally ran away from Tito after he was spanking him early.
