WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) raised some eyebrows when he appeared on ESPN Deportes and ranked himself as the best fighter of all-time.

Mayweather, who refers to himself as 'The Best Ever' - will enter the ring on September 12th for what he promises to be the final time of his pro career. He will defend his world titles against former two-time beltholder Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout will be carried by Showtime Pay-Per-View.

Hard to rank fighters from totally different eras like Mayweather and Robinson or even Leonard and Robinson, the game has changed a lot since and such comparisons are unfair especially to fighters of today, who can't fight as often as Robinson even if they wanted to.

It's a matter of personal preference really, I can argue that Mayweather had a more impressive career than Robinson cuz he had 25 championship fights in only 48 fights, won his first title only in his 18th pro fight and now ranked #1 P4P 17 years later at the age of 38, but another one could argue well back in Robinson's days there was only 1 belt and 1 champion, so Robinson having only 21 title fights in 200 total fights is understandable even though he was 14-7 in these, one could argue that Robinson had way too many tune up fights between title fights, which helped him have a long record of 200 fights, it's like sparring sessions with fighters that are not more than sparring partners counted as official pro fights, but one could argue that being consistent and beating all these fighters no matter how bad they were is still impressive. There will never be a clean cut TBE ever.

We will never know how a fight between Mayweather and Hearns or Leonard would play out, nobody knows, but u can't count anyone of them out, u can't say Hearns would steam roll through him cuz he couldn't do that to Benitez, who's much slower and not defensively as sound as Mayweather, so u can't count him out, but u can't say for sure. U can compare Mayweather to Leonard or Hearns in terms of accomplishments, and Mayweather definitley accomplished more in his career and had better longevity and consistency, these people were past prime by the time they were in their late 20s early 30s, also they partially fought in the era where fighters didn't fight 100 fights, the weight classes are the same as now and there were 3 sanctioning bodies since the mid 80s, so it's a bit comparable, these people have the edge in the most impressive single wis such as leonard over Hearns or Duran over Leonard, because when Floyd was these people's age there were noe Hearns or Durans or Leonards in his era, but he made up for it by being consistent and having a long very successful career, but again it's a matter of opinions.

I agree, hypothetically if Floyd were to fight them in their primes, he would lose.

In all fairness Hagler was a MW, and Floyd has no business fight at 160.

I don't think Floyd would have fought Hearns. He would stay at 140 and wait until Hearns moved up to 154 before going up to WW.

And I think Sugar Ray and Floyd would have ducked each other until they're both in their 40s. In this situation, Floyd would win, considering how he's aged a lot better. But prime vs prime, Sugar Ray wins.

Hagler is just too big, Leonard would be a very interesting and entertaining match up, and I've always thought Hearns would have the best shot at beating Floyd.
